Summary

The upcomingWonder Womangame from Monolith faces stiff competition in its genre, and absolutely needs to come through in one area. Of course, launching a new IP always comes with risks, even when associated with as famous a name asWonder Woman. With so little information released about the game yet, there are a lot of directions that it could take. While it could retread similar ground to past games, aWonder Womangame has options that haven’t been relevant before. If the developers take advantage of the opportunity, they can ensure that the game stands out.

Unlike thelong list of games starring Batman, Wonder Woman does not have much of a record in video games. While she has appeared in several video games, they are almost always as a part of an ensemble cast featuring several DC characters such asInjusticeorLEGO Batman. Considering that she’s one of the most famous heroes in the DC universe, the fact that she hasn’t gotten a proper video game to herself yet is quite a surprise. Monolith’sWonder Womancan make up for lost time by giving her a fantastic adventure, but at the same time, the pressure for a strong debut is immense.

Wonder Woman Needs to Showcase Her Own Villains in Her Upcoming Game

Even thoughWonder Woman’s role inSuicide Squad: KTJLlooks pretty interesting, her self-titled game will be the real test for her in the gaming sphere. After all, Wonder Woman’s background gives her a chance to tell stories that other heroes wouldn’t be able to. Although she regularly fights alongside Superman and Batman, her background gives her a whole world of her own to explore. Even though the new game will involve the modern world, shying away from Themiscyra and the gods would be a mistake. After all, they feature not only some of Diana’s greatest allies, but her most dangerous enemies as well.

Many of Wonder Woman’s foes are among theDC villains without video game representation, and that could change with theWonder Womangame. Wonder Woman’s rogues' gallery stretches from more traditional supervillains to evil Amazons and villainous gods, and it would be a waste not to reach into the latter category. Regarding an Amazon villain, it would be interesting to have a foe who knows how to fight like Diana, and the challenges that could come with it. Meanwhile, with Wonder Woman being one of the few heroes that can regularly challenge gods, such a foe would be a perfect final boss forWonder Woman.

Some of Diana’s most iconic opponents would go a long way todistinguish Monolith’sWonder Womangamefrom past DC titles. Two of her most famous rivals, Cheetah, and Giganta, have interesting relationships with her. Cheetah was once a friend of Diana’s before her powers made her a villain, which could be interesting to explore. Likewise, Giganta is a common opponent that even Diana acknowledges as not particularly evil, which could lead to a fun role. However, the most potential may come from the war god Ares. As one of Diana’s more powerful and persona foes, he has all the potential to be a major villain in the game.

A solid villain choice will undoubtedly be a big help forMonolith’sWonder Womanto overcome its obstacles. Villains are a vital part of a superhero’s story, and having Diana face her own villains would work far better than giving the spot to those that fans have already seen in several games before. The best direction for theWonder Womangame is one that makes use of the more unique parts of her origin from the comics. WIth that in mind, the villains may be one of the most important aspects of Monolith’sWonder Woman.
