Reddit user u/TimotheusHani discovered the ability to slide on Velkhana’s ice pools while being on the hunt for the creature inMonster Hunter World: Iceborne. These ice pools form when Velkhana enters its icicle-covered form, which acts as the dragon’s armor. At first glance, these ice pools may hinder player movement while evading Velkhana’s powerful attacks, but the ice allows players to slide and move out of a dangerous situation. Moreover, players may slide through these ice pools while charging attacks up. As shown in the Reddit video, u/TimotheusHani successfully performed a fully-charged hammer attack after sliding through Velkhana’s ice.

Velkhana is able to unleash a devastating ice breath attack and form ice walls during combat, so players must time their sliding attacks accordingly inMonster Hunter World: Iceborne. While fighting Velkhana, players are rewarded for using fire-based weapons since attacks cause greater damage against the monster’s icy armor. These rewards come in the form of additional carves and drops fromVelkhana inMonster Hunter World: Iceborne.
