It has been an eventful week forStarfield. Fans first began to discuss the game in earnest after it was revealed thatBethesda,Starfield’s developer, was purchased by Microsoft. Things became even more exciting when images of the game leaked online only a few days after. Now, it appears that anotherStarfieldimage has been leaked.
The latest screenshot was first shared online via Imagur and then leaked on Discord by the same person who allegedlyleaked the first threeStarfieldimages. The leaker also added a comment to the image, which suggested that there might be more leakedStarfieldimages circulating around, and hinted at when the game might release. “There were more than what was seen already, game is targeted for 2021,” said the leaker, who goes by the throwaway username ElectricalAd8659.

The image shows a third-person player character in an astronaut suit looking at a structure in space. It’s reminiscent of the image that previously leaked that similarly shows a player character, but the structure is different. Many fans on Reddit speculated that the building is actually a laboratory of some kind. Stamina and health bars are visible in the bottom corner of the screen, along with the outline of a weapon that appears to be a shotgun. In the bottom right is a gauge that seems to show oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, suggesting thatStarfieldmay feature survival mechanics similar toNo Man’s Sky.
The leaked image was named Deaddrop17.png, which adds further proof that there might be more leakedStarfieldimages circulating about that have not been released on the internet. The new image is also smaller than the last three images that were leaked, which suggests that the screenshots may have been taken on two different monitors.
While not much is known aboutStarfield, that hasn’t stopped fans from discussing the game and speculating about its gameplay mechanics and release date. The hype can be attributed to the recent news that Bethesda was purchased by Microsoft, which may lead toStarfieldbeing an exclusive on the Xbox Series X and S. News also came out that Sony had reportedly approached Bethesda before the purchasein hopes of makingStarfielda PS5 timed exclusive.
Bethesda Executive Producer Todd Howard recently said on the Xbox podcast that the developer had to significantly overhaul theCreation Engine to make use of next-gen systems. Pre-production on the game began in 2018. Unfortunately for fans, Bethesda has confirmed that noStarfieldgameplay will be shown in 2020.
