2022 saw several new superhero shows and movies debut, but it looks likeMs. Marvelhas beaten the rest of its peers out for the top spot. The Disney Plus Marvel series was everything its creators had hoped for, topping one major list of all the shows that came out last year. But there will always be some disagreement with these things.

While viewers were able to enjoy plenty ofgreat comic book-related content in 2022, there were a few offerings that shot above the rest with undeniable gusto. The movies are one thing, but superhero shows have been enjoying a bit of a renaissance lately, at least from a certain point of view. Sure, the CW may have axed most of its still pretty excellent DC series, but that possibly helped pave the way for other platforms to have a fair crack at it without getting viewers burnt out too quickly. At least, that was probably the idea.

Among the new and returning superhero shows in 2022,Rotten Tomatoesofficially rankedMs. Marvelas the champ. The film and TV review aggregator site even added a little blurb explaining their conclusion. “The MCU grew byMoon Knight,She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and evenWerewolf by Nightin 2022, but it was season 1 ofMs. Marvel, about a Pakistani-American superhero and led by charming star Iman Vellani, that bested them all. Move over,Peacemaker, andThe Boysneed to stand aside, because this teen crime-fighter is riding a wave to the top of the genre.”

Tatiana Maslany’ssimilarly excellentShe-Hulk: Attorney at Lawtook their second-place spot, with the site’s blurb praising how the legal comedy “passes the bar for bingeworthy viewing.” Meanwhile, number 5 saw Marvel Studios' Oscar Isaac-ledMoon Knightsettle into a “mostly enjoyable – and refreshingly weird – spot in the MCU firmament.” However, 2 out of 5 places showcased a DC show and another with a more loose affiliation.

Prime Video’sThe Boysenjoyed 3rd place, with its 3rd season lauded by Rotten Tomatoes for being “both bracingly visceral and wickedly smart.” Finally, HBO Max’s surprisinglyincredible James Gunn seriesPeacemakertook number 4. “John Cena’s still in solid form inPeacemaker,” the site gushed, “leading a bloody good time that gives writer-director James Gunn full permission to let his freak flag fly.” It’s not difficult to see why each of these shows was chosen. Granted, there probably weren’t all that many to choose from, but even so.

Because the art of making television is subjective by its very nature, many viewers will disagree with these rankings. As unambiguously fantastic asMs. Marvelis, it may not have affected some viewers as much asPeacemaker. Meanwhile, others might have enjoyedShe-Hulkmore. But while the rankings could be up for debate, everyone deserves a spot here.
