When theSaints Rowreboot was first revealed, there was a mixed reaction to the direction of the series. While many enjoyed the sheer out-of-this-world insanity ofSaints Row 4, others wanted more realistic takes likeSaints Row 1and2, and many more still prefer the more balanced approach ofSaints Row 3. What’s clear from its newly-released customization trailer, ultimately, is that thisSaints Rowgame takes the antics of its latest entry and manages to dial even that to 11.
Perhaps the world, the story, and the characters personality-wise are more grounded, but players can make their new Bosses inSaints Rowto be something completely out of this world. Prior to the release of this trailer, Game Rant viewed a presentation ofSaints Row’s customization featuresand was overwhelmed—in a good way—with how in-depth and how wacky it is.

Saints Row Character Customization
In character customization, nothing is too far out there. Every little thing can be edited, down to the style of censorship for nudity and nipple options, and everything has multiplayer layers. Players can, of course, customize their hair, their face, and their body (with no gendered restrictions), but players can do anything they imagine with that. TheSaints Rowcharacter’s hair can be layered with multiple colors, their entire face can be straight out of the Blue Man Group, or they can edit the material of their skin to look likeThor: Ragnarok’s Korg, a robot, a galaxy, or so much more.
Indeed, perhaps the two most impressive elements of the character creation are the asymmetrical face approach and the prosthetics. Players are able to essentially create two faces, should they so choose, in the character creator to make them look uneven, to adjust things like lipstick smears, or add a huge, gaping, caved-in facial scar. Players are also able to “android-up” their character with prosthetics, really taking acyberpunk future approachwith them, while some characters were shown off to look like they have molten rock arms.
Customization Options in Saints Row
For players that are overwhelmed with all the options, there’s even the ability to select a nice, simple preset and come back to character customization later. All the attention to detail here is applied to the vehicle customization, to the weapon customization, to the empire customization, and more. Players can adjust everything down to the profile of a tire, the smallest parts of a gun, and the overall decor of theirSaints RowHQall the way up to the entire wrap of the car, the visual presentation of the gun (players can turn a rifle into an umbrella), and the vehicles and styles of their crew.
Perhaps the best part is players don’t have to wait untilSaints Row’s release dateto create their Boss. Volition didn’t go into full detail, but it did confirm that players would be able to access this character creation somehow ahead of the game’s launch. This means players won’t have to worry about spending hours in the character creation at launch and can instead dive straight in.
Saints Rowreleases August 23 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
