For years now, gamers have been requesting a solo Daredevil game. Not only have the character’s comics been consistently great for years, but the success of the Netflix series and the character’s MCU debut have brought him into the spotlight. With footage of acanceled Daredevil game from the PS2 eraonly making the requests for a modern game more prevalent, fans are unlikely to stop asking for one - and funnily enough,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2could be the title to give fans a Daredevil-like experience.

WhileMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will surely not feature a playable Daredevil, it could provide the next best thing via the Devil Spider costume. Recently created by artist David Nakayama as an alternate cover design for theSpider-Man X Daredevilcomic book series, the costume imagines what it would look like if the two heroes were merged into one character. Not only is the design great, ensuring it would be a stylish addition to any costume lineup, but it could become truly special if players get access to special suit abilities like in the first two games.

A Devil Spider Suit Could Give Fans The Daredevil Game They’ve Always Wanted

The Devil Spider costume stands out for more than its horns and black eyes. It seems like this version of Matt Murdock would have Peter Parker’s abilities as well, as webbing is seen around him in addition to sonar vision. With the billy clubs still in-hand, Devil Spider’s fighting style would likely be a perfect mix betweenDaredevil and Spider-Man- something that seems like a perfect combination for a video game.

In Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Manseries, the alternate costumes serve a purpose, as they grant players access to bonus abilities. The Iron Spider costume gives Peter some extra legs to wield in combat, Miles Morales’Into The Spider-Versesuit adds the film’s choppy animation style, and theElectrically Insulated Suitprovides some electric attacks. Given how popular this system is, it makes sense for it to be carried over to the next game, meaning that the Devil Spider suit could truly shine.

Much like the Captain America and Spider-Man hybrid suit could let players wield Cap’s shield, and theZombie Hunter Spider-Man outfitcould give Spidey Doctor Strange’s Cloak of Levitation, Devil Spider could allow players to wield Matt Murdock’s powers. The Visor Mods fromSpider-Man: Miles Moralescould return to let players use Daredevil’s sonar vision, making enemies easier to spot. As for the proper Suit Mod, it could allow players to use Daredevil’s billy clubs, unlocking some unique finishing moves and melee animations.

Seeing a suit that references Daredevil would undoubtedly be exciting, but being able to wield the character’s move set would take the costume to the next level. This attire could also serve as a clear example of how a modernDaredevil game from Insomniacwould look, and it could be a way to test the waters and see how fans respond. Even if Insomniac does not have interest in such a project, some Daredevil-like gameplay could get players talking, and the hype could push another studio to embrace the idea of a game based on the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

With Daredevil and Spider-Man interacting more in the comics and the MCU, featuring a costume that plays on their friendship would be thrilling. Further, multipleEaster eggs referencing Matt Murdockexist within Insomniac’s games already, giving fans hope that the two heroes will interact one day. Though it remains to be seen if this will happen and Insomniac will flesh out its Marvel games universe through major cameos, a Devil Spider costume with unique abilities would be a perfect way to set the stage for Daredevil’s debut.
