Moon Studios' upcomingOri and the Will of the Wispshas hit a major milestone in its development: the game has officially gone gold, also meaning that it’s on track for its March release date.Ori and the Will of the Wisps’developer made its big announcement over Twitter while showing off the game’s shiny collector’s edition, which is up for pre-order now.
Ori and the Will of the Wispsis coming exactly five years after the release of its predecessorOri and the Blind Forest, which was met with massive amounts of praise upon its release. First revealed back in 2017,Ori and the Will of the Wispshas been delayeda couple of times from an originally projected 2019 release, but now that the game has gone gold, it should be smooth sailing from here.

Going “gold” is an important part of any game’s development; it essentially means that the developer has gotten its game to a point where a master disc can be pressed, on which every other subsequent copy of the game is based. So,Will of the Wispsgoing gold is as good a signal as any that Moon Studios is right on track (possibly even a bit ahead of schedule) with the game, given thatOri and the Will of the Wisps’release dateis set for March 11. Either way, fans can breathe easy with Moon Studios' “going gold” announcement, since it’s highly unlikely for a game to hit any more delays once it reaches that stage. Everything is looking good for thishighly-anticipated sequel.
