TheTomb Raiderreboot trilogyearned a great deal of critical acclaim, especially the first two games, but there are those who prefer Lara Croft’s zanier 90s games. Luckily for those fans,Tomb Raider: 1-2-3 Remasteredwill give them the chance to play those classic games on modern consoles.

Tomb Raider: 1-2-3 Remasteredwas announced during thelatest Nintendo Direct event. The collection will be developed by Aspyr, a studio that specializes in game ports and remasters. Anyone interested in picking it up can do so come February 14. Presumably, theTomb Raider: 1-2-3 Remasteredcollection will be available for more platforms than just the Nintendo Switch, but that has not been clarified at the time of this writing.
This newTomb Raidercollection will let players switch between the iconic polygonal look that defined the originalTomb Raidergames and a sleeker, more modern presentation with significantly improved graphics. Gameplay-wise, it seems as though the collection will mostly attempt to recreate the originals. The original trilogy ofTomb Raidergames weren’t exactly known for their tight controls, though, so hopefully there are some improvements in that department. In the meantime, it was confirmed that all the expansions and extra content released for the games will be part of this collection, so if everything goes well,Tomb Raider: 1-2-3 Remasteredshould be the most complete way to experience the classic games.
SomeTomb Raiderfans will no doubt hope thatTomb Raider: 1-2-3 Remasteredis just the start of Lara’s comeback. There are many other classicTomb Raidergames that could use the remastered treatment. They may not be as popular as the original trilogy, but some fans may want to seeThe Last Revelation,Chronicles, andThe Angel of Darknessmade playable on modern platforms. And it’s safe to say that even more fans would like to see the Crystal Dynamics-developedTomb Raider Legend,Tomb Raider Anniversary, andTomb Raider: Underworldget remastered as well. It remains to be seen if any other classicTomb Raidergames will be getting remastered, but fans do have abrand-newTomb Raidergameto look forward to at least.
