Summary
Quick Play: Hacked is returning for a brief window inOverwatch 2, this time letting players choose their role passives.Overwatch 2players are currently enjoying the game’s superhero-themed 11th season, named Super Mega Ultrawatch. The season added a new Push map named Runasapi, a Summer Games 2024 event, and introduced another major collaboration, giving popular heroes Reinhardt, Bastion, Ramattra, and Illari impressive skins based off fan-favorite Transformers.
The first iteration of Quick Play: Hacked, cleverly named afterSombra’s ability to hack opponents, was introduced earlier this year as an experimental mode for players and developers to play around with different parameters. The most notable appearance of the mode, named Quicker Play, noticeably sped up the duration of Quick Play matches by making payloads move 60% faster and decreasing respawn times by 75%. One of Quick Play: Hacked’s most recent iterations, Double Trouble, allowed teammates to pick the same heroes within their roles, making for chaotic compositions.

Now,midway throughOverwatch 2’s Season 11, Quick Play: Hacked is making its brief return once more with another crazy twist. This time, players will be able to pick their role passives, with each role having three passive abilities to choose from. Players will only get to experiment with the mode for two days, as it’ll run until July 17.
Damage
Support
One of the best passive abilities Tank mains will be able to pick, Armored, gives an additional 100 armor at the cost of 100 health. Roadhog players in particular would be pleased with the Unyielding passive, which decreases the duration of debuffs by 40% and seems like a big help against his nemesis,Ana and her pesky Biotic Grenade. Perhaps the most alarming passive ability on this list is for DPS heroes. Named Slayer, the passive lets players see low-health enemies through walls. This ability likely works best with flankers, like Reaper and Tracer, who like to chase down opponents who try to flee dicey 1v1 encounters. Additionally, the Resourceful passive for Support players seems like the perfect fit for Mercy mains as its reduces her ever-valuable Resurrect cooldown by 20%.
Role passive abilities have been subject to a lot of change sinceOverwatch 2’s 2022 launch, and it seems like Blizzard is using Quick Play: Hacked to try out some new ideas. As an experimental mode, the gameplay will very likely feel unbalanced with three different passives at play for each role, and players will only have two days to try all nine before Quick Play: Hacked returns to the shelf. Perhaps the mode will bring yet another big twist if it returns at some point in the future.
