Overwatch 2Season 4 is nearly upon us, and so Blizzard has pulled the curtain back on what all fans can expect from this season in terms of hero changes, events, and matchmaking improvements. As far as matchmaking goes,Overwatch 2is doing away with seasonal decay and will be showing players the average skill rating of each match to see how close they match their opponents.
When it comes to hero updates,Overwatch 2will be reworking Brigitte’s Ultimate ability. Starting Season 4, Brigitte’s Rally Ultimate will be more powerful, with the Support hero gaining a “fixed amount of recoverable armor,” and a boosted shield that can stun opponents.Changes made to Mercy in Season 3are being rolled back, while Sigma, Reinhardt, and Cassidy are all being nerfed, though details on how that will go have not been announced at the time of this writing.

Hero balance changes will no doubt interest fans, but the biggest addition toOverwatch 2with Season 4 is new Support hero Lifeweaver, who is once again available instantly to anyone that gets the premium Battle Pass. OtherOverwatch 2players will need to progress to tier 45 in the Battle Pass to unlock Lifeweaver for their roster.Lifeweaver has unique abilitiesthat could prove to be game changers inOverwatch 2, but fans will have to play him for themselves to see how it all shakes out.
Overwatch 2 Season 4 Start Date and Time
Season 4 should have plenty to keep fans busy, especially when taking its limited-time events into account. The firstOverwatch 2Season 4 event is actually available April 11 and lasts until April 25. It will let players check out a new Arcade mode called BOB and Weave where everyone plays as Lifeweaver. The event is meant to celebrate the Thai New Year, and sinceLifeweaver isOverwatch’s first Thai hero, it makes sense that he’s the focus of the event.
Then from April 25 to May 1,Overwatch 2players can try the limited-time Talantis map. The Talantis map is a new Control map that was actually designed as a collaboration between Game Director Aaron Keller, Art Director Dion Rogers, and members of theOverwatch 2community who participated in the Twitch Makes Overwatch livestream. It should be pointed out that the Talantis map is not considered canon in theOverwatch 2universe.
Yet another event will take place from May 9 to May 22, entitled Starwatch: Galactic Rescue. This 4v4 game mode brings theHorizon Lunar Colony mapback to the forefront, where a team of Watchers faces off against the Infinite Empire. This event will include its own premium Battle Pass cosmetics for players to collect. May 23 to May 29 will see the return of Greek mythology skins and the Battle for Olympus event, with Zeus Junker Queen available, while the Symmetra Challenge is coming May 30 to June 6 with rewards that players can earn in-game.
Overwatch 2is out now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
