Fans trying to log on to playOverwatch 2are facing long queue times and error messages due to a DDoS attack. The Head ofBlizzard Entertainmentsent out some tweets assuring fans that the team is working on the first-day hiccups.
The first days of major multiplayer releases are often known for being rough for players and those behind the scenes trying to get things running smoothly. Unfortunately,Overwatch 2players are having difficulty getting onto servers, hitting a strange “0 Players Ahead” error and waiting in long queues if they can get in at all.

President of Blizzard Entertainment Mike Ybarra has let fans know that log-in issues are being caused by a mass DDoS attack. European servers are reportedly hurting the most, but that may be fluctuating throughout all regions. Ybarra apologized for the issues and assured players that Blizzard is working to get the servers working as intended.
There have been reports of other issues like missing cosmetics and complications with players that have had to merge theirOverwatch 2Battenet accounts. Some fans have been finding a workaround though. PC players that can freely choose their servers have been able to log in via the Asia servers. At the risk of overloading those servers and suffering through high ping rates, fans can get into games and continue grinding the newOverwatch 2Battle Pass levels. But success seems to vary for players.
There is no word on who is causing the DDoS attack, and there might never be. As to why the DDoS attacks are happening, the hackers likely want to spoil the first-day fun for players in a new game. This attack hasn’t dampened interest in the game though. As of writing, there are 400,000 people watchingOverwatch 2content creators playing the game on Twitch, who are also dealing with the server issues. Most of them are looking to get theKiriko skin earned from Twitch watch time, but it still makes the game’s concurrent stream numbers look good. With more players having log-in issues, that number has been declining though.
WithOverwatch 2finally launching, fans and detractors alike have had their sites set on this day, and both parties showed up. It’s a nuisance having to deal with server issues on the first day. Though gamers may be used to their online games having first-day or major update day log-in issues, an intentional DDoS attack is a different battle to fight.
Overwatch 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
