On top of the merch for its various game franchises, Sony has a collection of licensedPlayStationproducts that are available on its online Gear store. The PS-themed memorabilia includes the usual clothing, Funko Pops, water bottles, and even a backpack, all of which would delight hardcore fans.
Gamer weakgoodredditor shared their find on the PlayStation subreddit, thinking that the piece of Sony-themed streetwear was made in the 90s. However, a fellow Redditor, who claimed to have designed licensed merch and clothes for big brands, pointed out that while the style was similar to fashion from that era, the jacket was likely a more recent release. The repeating PS logo pattern on the shoulders followed more contemporary fashion trends, while the blue and white color theme was adopted by the brand in the mid-2010s.
Still, retro or not, this jacket is a good find. This particular piece seems extremely rare, as a quick Google image search doesn’t turn up any immediate matches. It’s entirely possible that it may not even be anofficial Sony merch release, though the quality of the craftsmanship does imply that it’s a legitimately licensed product. Another Redditor spotted a small repeating PlayStation logo detail lining the inside of the collar, which seems to be further evidence that it’s authentic. It all makes for merch that fans would be proud to wear anywhere, and it helps that the PlayStation brand is really strong, thanks to its long and storied history of great games and iconic franchises, with even more on the way.
