APokemonfan, who goes by umbratundra on Reddit, shared an incredible Dratini doll they covered with faux fur. They posted a sped-up video of the process that took about a week of work, showing how they combined a mold and other materials to craft a posable doll. The artist began by creating a wireframe in the shape of Dratini and shaving down a mold to use as the Pokemon’s skull. After attaching a pair of colorful eyes to the wireframe, the artist covered Dratini’s skull with blue faux fur and then created its body using the same technique.
In the comments, manyPokemonfans expressed their admiration for this lifelike Dratini doll, with some joking that they felt like they watched a live surgery. For many, the whole process was satisfying to watch on a sped-up video, and the fur looks like the icing on the cake. When asked why they used faux fur, the artist said there would be a big visible seam on other materials like leather and vinyl.
This is not the first time umbratundra has crafted a doll based on thePokemonseries. Last year, the artist created a Vaporeon dollusing a coat of fur to give the Water-type Pokemon a unique makeover. It took them nearly 30 hours to finish the whole process.
Some members of the ever-growingPokemoncommunity express their love for the franchise through creative means. Recently, onePokemonenthusiast has shared humanoid versions of Slugma and Magcargo, while another has indulged in the idea of fusing Bulbasaur and Pikachu into a single monster. It will be interesting to see what other interpretations surface on Reddit in the coming days.
