Pokemonfan and Reddit user Waitingforthedentist shared a collection of pictures of their own Cubone creation. One of their friends is an avid collector of rubber ducks and a hugePokemonfan. Cubone is their friend’s favorite, so Waitingforthedentist combined their two loves into a truly adorable sculpture castingthe Lonely Pokemonin the recognizable shape of a rubber duck.

This charming art project was created with modeling clay, and, despite being Waitingforthedentist’s first time working with the material, the result speaks for itself. The model was painted to imitate the cell-shaded style ofPokemon, and Waitingforthedentist even mimicked the lines of wear and tear on Cubone’s iconic skull helmet. Its green eyes and expression of lonely determination are enough to melt the hearts of manyPokemonfans.

Unsurprisingly, Waitingforthedentist’s fellow fans were instantly charmed by the Cubone sculpture. Those who saw it commented on the impressive work, commending how adorable the sculpture is, and how much they were certain their friend would like it. One fan even suggested making multiple Cubone ducks following behind a larger Marrowak one–an idea Waitingforthdentist said they would love to make for the holiday season. It seems Cubone is a popular subject forPokemonart projects. In the past, fans of the Pokemon have made ahardwood portrait of Cubone, crocheted yarn figures of its shiny form, and crafted terrariums featuring its skull. Though it is called the Lonely Pokemon, Cubone has no shortage of fans out in the world creating tributes to it in all sorts of art forms.

Nintendo itself recognized Cubone’s popularity when it featured its iconic skull on a T-shirt for thePokemon 151clothing brand from 2008 in Japan and 2016 in the US. Cubone isn’t new toPokemonby any means, but with appearances in several games, shows, and movies–includingDetective Pikachu–it is no exaggeration to say that Cubone’s popularity has never wavered in the 27 years since it was created.
