Summary
A creativePokemonandMonster Hunterfan is reimagining the Legendary Regis line asMonster Huntercreatures. For years,PokemonandMonster Hunterhave stood at two ends of the monster-battling genre spectrum.Pokemonis a collect-a-thon experience welcoming to casual players, whileMonster Hunterhas been aimed at a more hardcore crowd. Perhaps the closest the two franchises have ever gotten is thePokemon Legends: Arceusgame, which features open areas and crafting mechanics somewhat like the kind featured in theMonster Huntergames.
Despite the two series being functionally different, fans have often wondered what a crossover between the franchises might look like. This has led to creative fans across the internet sharing their pitches for aMonster HuntermeetsPokemontitle along with some seriously epic fan art. For example, onePokemonfan showed off theirMonster Hunter-style designsfor Umbreon and Vaporeon, which was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the respective communities. Now, another artist is trying their hand at some epic Legendary Pokemon crossovers.

Reddit user JulianRahmat is reimagining the Legendary Regi Pokemon as Carapaceons from theMonster Hunteruniverse. The Regi Titans are six different Legendaries from thePokemonregions of Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Galar. The six different Legendaries each feature a different type, which is typically represented in their name. Regirock is a Rock-type, Regice is an Ice-type, Registeel is a Steel-type, Rgigigigas is a Normal-type, Regieleki is an Electric-type, and Regidrago is a Dragon-type. On the other hand, Carapaceons are a class of crab-like monsters from theMonster Huntergames.
In addition to being functionally different video game franchises,PokemonandMonster Hunterare each aesthetically unique. That said, JulianRahmat does an excellent job blending the two styles to match each Regi to a respective Carapaceon. When asked about adesign for the meme-created Pokemon Regitube, the artist pleaded the fifth, stating they “can neither confirm [nor] deny it’s coming.”
When it comes to fan art, crossovers between different franchises are a pretty common practice. When done well, like these pieces, the two franchises blend seamlessly to create something that feels like an in-universe creation. The new monsters certainly have their own styles, but even non-artistic fans can trace back the origins of the incorporated designs. When it comes to crossovers, it’s not justMonster HunterandPokemon, either.
One fan crossed over two nostalgic franchises byreimagining Pikachu and Mewtwo asDragon Ballcharacters. Specifically, in the case of Pikachu, the artist does a commendable job blending the cutesy aesthetic with the muscle-bound fighters from theDragon Balluniverse.
