APokemon ScarletandVioletfan shows off their interpretation of Wiglett as a Gen 5 sprite. With the ninth generation ofPokemongames on the way with the upcoming release ofScarletandViolet, a lot of fans are excited to see what the latest region, creatures, and story will bring to the established franchise. On the other hand, no matter how many newPokemongenerations are released, some fans will always have a favorite. One of themore popularPokemongenerationsto fans is Gen 5, which saw the release of the critically acclaimedBlackandWhiteand the well-received sequels.

The journeys in the Unova region were seen by many as a sort ofPokemonrenaissance, with a lot of fans praising the games released in Gen 5 for their narratives, creature design, and much more. Pokemon design in particular remains a hotly debated topic among fans of the franchise, and it has again emerged on the internet over the appearance of the latest pocket monster to be showcased.Wiglett is the most recent Pokemon revealedforPokemon ScarletandViolet. Initially, fans thought it was a Diglett regional form, but later found out it was its own creature.

While some have seen Wiglett’s design as somewhat lazy, others have praised the look of the new Water-type Pokemon, and it has seen plenty of art created for it online. OnePokemonfan, known as R3dd1t_D4v1d over on Reddit, has combined their love of Wiglett with their fondness for Gen 5 by making a sprite for the new Pokemon. Rather than just creating some pixel art for Wiglett, thePokemon ScarletandVioletcreature was given a custom animation by R3dd1t_D4v1d.

The animation shows Wiglett first in its elongated form before it then moves back underground. The animation is incredibly impressive, and it will likely make some nostalgicPokemonfans want for a demake ofScarletandVioletcomplete with 2D sprites. Those in the comments of R3dd1t_D4v1d’s Reddit post even discussed the possibility of aGen 5Pokemonremakenot going for the new 3D style, but instead just increasing the visual quality of its older, 2D look.

Alongside showing what Wiglett would look like in the Unova region, plenty of otherPokemonfans have shown off their look at the new long creature. Plenty ofWiglett memeshave been produced since the Pokemon was first unveiled, and other artists have shown off different versions of the pocket monster, with one even depicting its terrifying “true form.”
