Pokemon GOhas announced the Blaze New Trails event that starts on July 21 at 10 AM and ends on July 24 at 8 PM local time. The highlight of this event is the debut of the Legendary Zygarde, one of thestrongest Gen 6 Pokemon. Zygarde will be available in the Special Research story From A to Zygarde in its 10% Forme, which is when the Pokemon takes on a form similar to that of a small dog. The event will also increase encounters in the wild for Growlithe, Ponyta, Doduo, Lillipup, Blitzle, and Yungoos, withPokemon GOplayers able to encounter their shiny variants. Players who hatch 7km eggs can get Rockruff, Skwovet, and Falinks, which will also have a shiny chance.

When does Zygarde debut in Pokemon GO?

The Blaze New Trails event also celebrates the introduction ofPokemon GO’s new Routes feature, bringing one of the classic mechanics of the main series to Niantic’s game. With this, the event encouragesPokemon GOplayers to share their favorite locations in their communities and discover other trainers' favorite places. In the Blaze New Trails event, players can earn Buddy Candy faster when exploring Routes with a Buddy and have an increased chance of finding shiny Yungoos. While exploring the Routes, players can also collect Zygarde Cells to change Zygarde’s form.

Zygarde’s debut expands the list ofLegendary and Mythical Pokemon available inPokemon GO. The arrival of the Dragon/Ground-type being linked to the debut of Routes is a clever decision from Niantic, as it will serve as a potential incentive forPokemon GOplayers to explore the new feature and have a new experience of playingPokemon GO.
