APokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer has found a duplication glitch which allows them to share shinies with friends in the game’s online and local multiplayer modes. Though bugs and glitches are pretty common withinPokemon Scarlet and Violet, very few allow players to share rare Pokemon with their friends.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violethad a rocky release, being plagued by a large amount of technical difficulties that made the games unplayable for some. Though Nintendo did their best to address several of these issues in version 1.1, new bugs continue to crop up as curious players test the limits of the games.

Among these recently found bugs is a method which allows players to duplicate shiny Pokemon while still giving them their own ID and original trainer tag. WhilepreviousPokemon Scarlet and Violetshiny duplication glitcheshave allowed fans of the franchise to replicate Pokemon in single-player, this new method allows players to share wild pocket monsters online or in local multiplayer so that both the host and their friend can catch it. Following a day of researching and testing this method, PhillyBeatzU posted a tutorial to their YouTube channel:
Before doing this method, the host needs to wander Paldea in search of a particularly desirable Pokemon, typically a shiny, while playing the game online or in local multiplayer. This is the hard part, asPokemon Scarlet and Violetmake it difficult to spot shinies. When the host of the multiplayer finds a shiny, they should save the game before allowing the other player to engage in battle with the shiny. Once the other player starts fighting the shiny, the host should quickly close the game completely. Upon rebooting the game, now in single-player, the host will once again find the shiny Pokemon in the same place. Using this method, two friends can share a shiny between them, with each shiny caught having a different ID and OT.
Though this method is reliable, fans should know that Nintendo is not a particularly big fan of players using exploits in any of its games, meaning there is a possibility that they may be punished in the future for using this exploit. However, each shiny having a different ID and original trainer tag not only makes this method harder to track, but the means through which these Pokemon are being generated is not innately exploitative, all players are really doing is restarting their games, which they could always chalk down toPokemon Scarlet and Violetperformance issues. This method is thus quite tame, generating non-identical Pokemon instead of duplicating them entirely, and seems quite harmless compared to methods of the past.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
