Since Pokemon Eggs were introduced inPokemonGen 2, every mainline title has included the carried items which are traditionally yielded after breeding Pokemon and that seems to be no different withPokemon Scarlet and Violet. OnePokemon Scarlet and Violetleak teases how the egg hatching will work in the upcoming generation ofPokemonand it may differ from previous games.

SincePokemon Gold and Silver, breeding has undergone a few minimal changes like the introduction of Incense and Everstone which can both play a role in breeding Pokemon to guarantee certain results. Like these few advancements that have already been made in moving Pokemon breeding from Gen 2 to Gen 8,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetmay be making their own adjustment to the process, specifically with how eggs are hatched. Reddit user ShinyHunterEthan16 recently shared a majorPokemon Scarlet and Violetleak that suggests Pokemon Eggs may have a similar function tohatching inPokemon GO.

SomePokemon Scarlet and Violetleakshave been released since the new generation was confirmed by Nintendo in February and according to ShinyHunterEthan16, a few have been teased by a known dataminer called Kaka. One of these small details has been decoded by ShinyHunterEthan16 from a statement that included multiple blank spaces forPokemonfans and others anticipatingPokemon Scarlet and Violetto fill in for themselves. Taking knowledge fromPokemon GO’s Egg hatching, ShinyHunterEthan16 proposes that the leak is saying that Pokemon Eggs could be placed in Incubators for upwards of two hours to cause the egg to hatch in a stationary position.

Pokemontitles usually task trainers with running around for thousands of steps in order to hatch eggs, and this process has been mimicked in multiple generations includingPokemon Eggs given to trainersby important NPCs. Although thisPokemon Scarlet and Violetleak hints Incubators will play a prominent role in hatching Pokemon Eggs in Gen 9, ShinyHunterEthan16 has noted that the Incubation process doesn’t mean the standard method of hatching won’t also be included in the upcoming games. This may mean thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers can leave a Pokemon Egg in an Incubator at a Pokemon Center while keeping one in their party to run around with and potentially hatch two in the same time frame.

BecauseShiny Pokemon huntershave optimized Pokemon breeding over the generations of games, one response to ShinyHunterEthan16’s leak stated that these players may have to form a new strategy that accounts for the Incubators. Although somePokemonfans have suggested that the use of Incubators will limit how many eggs aPokemontrainer can hatch per hour compared to previous titles in the series, others remain hopeful that Incubators won’t be rare to come by inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease for Nintendo Switch on November 18.
