Poison-types Koffing and Weezing are best known in-universe for spewing poisonous, explosive gas from their body. Originally from the Kanto region, Koffing and Weezing were made compatible inPokemon Scarlet & Violetthanks to the Teal Mask. Now, trainers can catch a Koffing (or Weezing) of their own in Kitakami, the setting for Teal Mask/part 1 of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion pass.
With the inclusion of many Poison-types in Paldea, trainers may prefer to use something other than the Koffing-line inScarlet & Violet. However, like Paldea, Kitakami has its own Pokedex, adding 200 more entries for trainers to fill out. Catching Koffing and Weezing is just part of the extra 200 new and returning Pokemon in one of the Gen 9 Pokedex.
Where to Find Koffing
Koffing only spawns onOni Mountain, specifically at theCrystal PoolandInfernal Pass. Although Koffing can appear at Infernal Pass, they’re easier to find atCrystal Pool. Trainers can start climbing Oni Mountain as soon as they’re partnered with Kieran and sent off to find the three signboards around Kitakami.If players decide to follow the storyline, they’ll be directed to the second signboard atKitakami Hall. From there, they’ll need to climb Oni Mountain.
Hike to the summit of Oni Mountain to the Crystal Pool and interact with the sign by the bridge to unlock a fast-travel point.
Koffing will bearound level 29-30. To make catching it easier, ensure to havethree gym badges. Special types of Poke Balls that have a higher catch rate depending on the Pokemon’stypewill have no effect on Koffing. Use a Quick Ball or bring a Pokemon that can chip away at its HP before throwing a Great Ball.

What Level Does Koffing Evolve
Koffing evolves into Weezing atlevel 35. The quickest way to level it up is by using Exp. Candies or Rare Candy. Koffings that are caught in the postgame will be well-beyond their evolution level. Simply level it upone levelto trigger the evolution.
How to Get Galarian Weezing
InSword/Shield, Weezing gained a regional variant: Galarian Weezing.
With the Koffing-line now compatible withScarlet/Violet, players also have access to this regional variant. Koffings in Paldea/Kitakami will evolve into Kantonian Weezing, so in order to get the Galarian one, trainers will need to evolve their Koffing in Galar. Unlike regular Weezing, this Weezing is a Poison/Fairy-type, giving it more coverage, strengths, and weaknesses. Here are some ways to get Galarian Weezing forScarlet/Violet:

Alternatively, trainers could just catch a Galarian Weezing (available in the Slumbering Weald) inSword/Shieldand transfer that toScarlet/Violet. However,the Galarian Weezing won’t have the same trainer IDas theScarlet/Violettrainer.
Is Weezing Worth Using? (Which Weezing is Better?)
Both Kantonian Weezing and Galarian Weezinghave the same base stats. The differences start with its type effectiveness, moves, and of course, appearance. Here’s more information about both Weezings:

Levitate:Gives immunity to Ground-type moves. This Ability can be negated if the opposing Pokemon uses a move like Gravity.
Despite its great Defense, Weezing’spoor Speed and HPmake it an unsuitable tank and attacker. Players may have also noticed that Weezing’s recommended Natures are at the cost of its Attack stat. Although its Attack growth is higher than its Special Attack by 5 base points,Weezing’s learnset and best moves are mostly special moves. This means trainers may want to prevent Weezing from having a low Special Attack growth.
Here are some recommended moves for both Weezings:
Unfortunately, Weezing’s TM learnset is shallow as well, and primarily of special moves. It doesn’t gain much coverage beyond Fire and Dark-type moves, but it can learn Psybeam (Psychic-type) and Thunderbolt (Electric-type). However, these moves aren’t going to cover any of Weezing’s type weaknesses, so they may not be as useful as they sound.
Weezing can also learn moves such as Spite and Pain Split via Egg Moves. Thanks to theMirror Herb, players just need to haveone empty slot in Weezing’s moveset, and have another Pokemon with the desired move.Make sure Weezing is holding a Mirror Herb, then set up a picnic. Exit back out and check Weezing’s summary to see if the move was “shared.”
