Developer Ubisoft Montreal called in its sister studio Ubisoft Toronto to help with the development of the upcomingPrince of Persia: The Sands of Timeremake. The remake was originally scheduled for release in January 2021, but its release was subsequently postponed after fans complained about the announcement trailer’s graphical fidelity. Later in 2022, Ubisoft Montreal, the developer of the originalSands of Time, took over production of the project a month before announcing that the game had been delayed yet again, with the studio additionally choosing not to reveal an official release window and only stating that the company was no longer aiming for a launch within the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
Now, another studio is getting involved withthePrince of Persiaseries, though notably, it’s joining Ubisoft Montreal as a partner for theSands of Timeremake rather than replacing it as the main developer. While Ubisoft Toronto hasn’t been around for as long as Ubisoft Montreal, the studio has had a hand in the production of several major Ubisoft titles. Most notably, Ubisoft Toronto previously developed bothFar Cry 5andFar Cry 6, along withWatch Dogs: Legion. Additionally, the studio is working on aremake ofTom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, which was announced back in 2021.
