With next-generation consoles around the corner, fans are waiting to hear ’s next console, currently titled Project Scarlett. Some specs for the upcoming hardware is known, but, outside ofHalo: Infinite,fans are unclear about what games to expect in the coming years. Thanks to rumors and rumblings, there are a handful of franchises expected to make a dazzling entrance on the brand new hardware. It’s time to look at 10 games rumored to be coming to the next Xbox, Project Scarlett.

10Halo Wars 3

Halo Warsis a beloved real-time strategy spinoff franchise from the first-person shooter titan known simply asHalo. Despite the franchise never doing too well when it comes to financial success, it does fall in the realm of great subjects for Xbox’s Game Pass subscription. They have communicated that they want their service to have a wide range of interesting titles hailing from all different genres. Don’t be surprised ifHalo Wars 3is announced and is used to push Game Pass on PC.

9The Outer Worlds 2

Now, this is a bit of a stretch considering Obsidian Entertainment just releasedThe Outer Worldsto market in late October, but it’s never too early to dream. Recently it was revealed that the game landed at #2 in the NPD charts for the month of October, only being toppled by the annual mega-sales giant known asCall of Duty. With this early success, it means that the franchise now a staple in the industry, that Microsoft as the new owners of Obsidian is happily willing to greenlight a sequel to immediately.

8New Splinter Cell

Splinter Cellis a franchise that has never sold or reviewed extremely well but has built such a dedicated and fervent fan base over the years. That same fan base has been clamoring for a new entry in the series, which has seemingly gone unnoticed as the franchise went the entirety of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console generation without a new entry. Fans are still holding out hope, but it will likely have to wait until the release of Xbox’s next-generation console currently titled Project Scarlett.

7State Of Decay 3

Undead Labs has managed to make 2 cult classic zombie killing games that have built up a hardcore audience of fans who can’t get enough. In recent years, they were acquired by Microsoft in a storm of new studio acquisitions which comes with tremendous benefits for the studio. Now that they have the financial and developmental support of Microsoft, it seems like they’re shooting for the stars with their 3rd release. Fans are hoping to see a tremendous leap in the types of games and worlds they create.

6Everwild

At Xbox’s fan-driven, now annual event X019, Rare released a teaser glimpse into the world of their new IP.Everwild,as it was later revealed to be titled, looked very much inspired by the likes ofThe Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wildwhen it comes to the overall art style.

Despite there being no indication as to what genre this game would fall into or what the moment to moment gameplay would be, it left fans excited. Such an early tease with next-gen hitting in 2020 means this game will likely release as a premiere title for the new box.

5Batman Arkham: Court Of Owls

For years now, fans have wondered what both Warner Bros. Games Montreal and Rocksteady Games have cooking up when it comes to the world of Batman. People have been unsure as to whether or not theArkhamuniverse they molded would be revisited.

Luckily, WB Montreal had teased their next game via tweets in late September that seems to hint at a Batman game inspired by the Court of Owls comic storyline. Will we see a reveal at The Game Awards 2019, and will this game be one of the first cross-gen titles announced?

Playdead Games has done one of the most impressive things in games by knocking it out of the park with their first 2 titles. BothLimboandInsidereleased to tons of critical praise and lifted the bar for prestige indie titles. It’s been a few years since Inside and fans are still waiting to hear more about their next game. Fans have an idea of the basic premise as the studio tweeted out a teaser of their next adventure way back in January of 2017. It featured what seemed to be a crashed astronaut in unfamiliar territory.

Cupheadsimply from an animation and art perspective was a herculean creative accomplishment that took many years of passion and risks. With it having tremendous success on both Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch, it wouldn’t be too surprising to hear that Studio MDHR staffed up and is already hard at work on their next project. It is still likely a few years away in terms of being in a teaser friendly state, but let’s assume that Xbox might be working with them to have it out the door early in the next console’s life cycle.

Little did they know that a leak teasing a newAssassin’s Creedgame heavily inspired by Norse mythology, taking place in a time and place featuring Vikings would hit the internet.

The idea that accomplishedForza Horizondevelopers Playground Games are working on the next entry in theFableseries seems to be the biggest non-secret in the industry. It’s been teased by Phil Spencer that they’re working on a new grand role-playing game, and whispers from industry journalists have hinted at them getting a shot at the beloved British franchise. Xbox wants to build fans hopes for the future of their next-generation, which means we’ll likely see what the newestFableentry looks like before E3 2020 closes its doors.
