Summary

A rarePokemonskateboard is currently being sold online for $20,000, quite a surprising price for such an item. This rare collector’s item seems to be following the same market logic asthe most expensivePokemoncards, which can fetch thousands of dollars if they are rare enough.

Acollection of officialPokemonskateboardswas first released back in 2020. At the time, The Pokemon Company International launched 750 limited edition decks, featuring classic creatures from the first generation, each one costing between $185 and $500. The launch was so successful that the company soon released a second wave of skateboards, and a specific one from the latest collection is fetching an incredible price on the market.

The Golden CharizardPokemonskateboard is being sold for upwards of $20,000 on eBay. The board features the mighty Charizard across a shiny gold background and some Japanese writing. This item is part of a newer collection that was created as part of a partnership between The Pokemon Company and Santa Cruz, which has 20 original designs, including fan favorites such as Pikachu, Mew, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and others. These boards were originally sold in blind bags that cost $110 each, but now most listings show even the unsealed bags costing $500 or more. From these, five golden designs were rarer and featured special illustrations of Pikachu, Eevee, Mew, Mimikyu, and Charizard, which was the rarest of them.

While this specific edition has not been sold yet, it’s not far-fetched to believe that someone could pay that much forPokemonmerchandise, which often includes exclusive editions of cards, toys, and evencutePokemonplushes. Dot Esports also found another listing of a golden Charizard board that was able to fetch $15,000 on eBay and was sold back on September 22, proving that this board is indeed selling at high prices.

While some collectors will be salivating at the idea of taking a golden $20,000 Charizard skateboard home, some more artistically inclined fans may simply decide to create their own homemade, unofficial decks. Some time ago, for instance, one fan decided to makea skateboard with all the Eeveelutions. More recently, anotherPokemonfan created an illustration of the Gen 2 starter Cyndaquil instead to use on their skate. While not as coveted as the rare golden Charizard, it’s certainly a cheaper option that still looks good and will catch the attention of fellow skaters on the street.
