Red Dead Onlineofficially launched in November and this month the standalone game, along with Rockstar’s other popular titleGrand Theft Auto Online,are celebrating Christmas in their own ways. Developer Rockstar Games recently broughtweekly Bounty Hunter updatesto its stable of games that saw the arrival of seasonal music and snow.
InRead Dead Online, the weekly update also brought a new outlaw to hunt and the ability to trudge through the snow to find a new Moonshine Shack. Inside this shack, holiday music with an emphasis on the banjo can be heard playing. The small shack also is furnished and decked out in holiday flair for players to enjoy as well.

The newholiday themedRed Dead Onlinebounty hunter updatealso included a variety of new weapons players can unlock. Players can get a new skin for the Repeater and some Reddit users believe there’s a way to get the Krampus shotgun from last year’s holiday update. Because players will be carrying out their latest hunt in the snow, Rockstar is providing players with a free in-game coat.
All of those additions to the standalone game that used to be justanother mode forRed Dead Redemption 2are secondary to the players' target for this week. They’ll hunt “Shepherd” Virgil Edwards. Edwards is the leader of a sect cult who believes humanity is about to face its final reckoning. It appears Shepherd didn’t just lead his followers down a religious path but pulled off quite a few heinous crimes inside the world ofRed Dead Online. Those crimes were enough to generate a bounty.
to track down their latest target,Red Dead Onlineplayers need to travel to Roanoke Ridge. In that location, hunters have to talk to members of the doomsday cult. There are several different campsites that need a visit in order to piece together the puzzle of where their target is hiding. SomeRed Deadplayers were expecting the weekly update so close to Christmas would include more of a holiday theme. It appears Rockstar skirted someone who steals present as the target, for the music and timely decorations instead.
The weekly update and hunt is just the latest addition to the new standalone game that Rockstar has billed as growing in popularity because of its customization options. Those options can even include players dressing theirRed Dead Onlinecharacters up as iconicAssassin’s Creed Roguefigure, Shay Cormac if they feel the itch. Users can also choose how exactly to undertake the hunt for their latest target and take down Shepherd Virgil.
