Capcom released a new trailer forResident Evil 3, which mostly focused on the game’s heroine Jill Valentine and her desperate escape from the T-Virus infected Raccoon City. Unlike previous trailers for the remake, the latest one began with a quick glimpse ofResident Evil Resistance, which isthe asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer gamethat is included inResident Evil 3.
The latest trailer revealed thatJill Valentine herselfwill be joining the game’s roster of survivors that is made up of six original characters that were not featured in any previousResident Evilgames. The trailer also confirmed that Jill will be joiningResident Evil Resistancein a future update, so it is likely that she won’t be available as a playable character at launch. As of the moment, it is currently unknown if Jill will be the only character from the mainResident Evil 3game that will make an appearance inResistance, but it is not at all unlikely for Carlos Oliveria to be included as well.

On the flipside,Capcom has confirmed four MastermindsinResident Evil Resistance, and three of them are characters from otherResident Evilgames. The only original Mastermind inResident Evil Resistanceso far is Daniel Fabron, who is described as a security operative within the Umbrella Intelligence Division. Other Masterminds in the game will include Annette Birkin, an Umbrella researcher and wife of G-Virus creator William Birkin, Alex Wesker, another high-ranking Umbrella employee and part of the Wesker Program, and Ozwell E. Spencer, who is the ultimate mastermind and one of the founders of Umbrella itself.
AlthoughResident Evil Resistanceis set to release alongsideResident Evil 3next week,a beta version of the game is available right nowfor players to try out. To those unfamiliar with the game,Resident Evil Resistanceis a 4v1 online multiplayer game, that replaced The Mercenaries mini-game in the originalResident Evil 3.Resident Evil Resistanceis divided into two factions, where a group of players will play the role of the Survivors, while a single player will be the Mastermind. The objective of the Survivors is to successfully escape the traps and monsters that will be unleashed by the Mastermind.
Several weeks ago, Capcom confirmed that althoughResistancetakes place in the universe ofResident Evil,the game itself will not be includedin the franchise’s established lore. Of course, this information doesn’t come as a surprise given thatResident Evil Resistanceis a spin-off title, and its status as a non-canon game is further cemented by the inclusion of Jill Valentine, who plays a key role in much ofResident Evil’shistory.
Resident Evil 3andResident Evil Resistanceare scheduled to release on July 16, 2025, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
