Playing as Ashley in theResident Evil 4remakealso means solving various puzzles, from a grandfather clock puzzle to retrieving the insignia behind several locked door puzzles, including two door puzzles in the creepy Mausoleum below the castle. Fortunately, both puzzles aren’t too tricky, with a few handy tips.
How To Solve Mausoleum Animal Door Symbol Gong Puzzle
After players solve the grandfather clock puzzles, they’ll reach a set of descending spiral stairs leading to the Mausoleum. The room is lined with chilling suits of armor, and the path is blocked by a locked gate featuring four animal symbols and a gong puzzle similar to the gongs in theResident Evil 4remake’s sword puzzle.
To unlock the door, players should pull the string of each circular gong positioned in each corner of the room but in the correct order.Players must pull the gongs in the following order to successfully open the door: bird, elk, shrimp, snake.
However, the catch is as soon as players start ringing the gongs, surroundingResident Evil 4’s Armadura enemiesawaken and hunt the player, so time is of the essence. It’s best to locate all symbols and formulate a path beforehand to avoid frantically pulling the wrong ones. Quickly run to and open the door as soon as it unlocks to escape the approaching Armaduras.

How To Get The Salazar Family Insignia (Solve Mausoleum Lantern Light Puzzle)
Once through the door, players are safe for now. Unlock the chest behind the wooden panel using the keys from earlier in the Chapter before heading round the corner past the golden knight, later featuring asResident Evil 4’s Merciless Knight Merchant request. Players can see the Salazar Family Insignia locked behind the door to the stone mausoleum construction surrounded by more blue lanterns.
To solve the mausoleum lantern light puzzle, place Ashley’s lantern on the empty lantern pew and match the symbol on the lantern to the correct light shining on the wall.
For instance, players must match the lantern with the crescent moon symbol and place it on the pew with the crescent moon shining on the wall. Players must pick up and move the lanterns until they match each light shape. Do the same with the full moon and star-shaped symbols to unlock the door and get the Salazar Family Insignia later used to free Leon.
It’s not one ofResident Evil 4’shardest puzzles, so players shouldn’t have too much trouble. However, players must be careful on the way back, as more Armadura spring to life as players head back through the door with the animal symbols, so it’s a race back to survive.
