Summary

Call of Duty 2025seems to be making some serious adjustments following the release ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.Call of Duty’s most recent entry featured recycled maps at launch and a lackluster campaign, leading some fans to disagree with its full price tag of $70.

It was previously reported thatCall of Duty 2025would be aBlack Ops 2sequeland that all of its maps would be remastered levels from the 2012 title, similar to howModern Warfare 3mostly consisted of maps from 2009’sModern Warfare 2. While this strategy was a hit with some fans of the classicCall of Dutygame, other fans felt thatModern Warfare 3did not deserve to be a flagshipCall of Dutyrelease, and should have been treated as a premium DLC. Following the backlash surroundingModern Warfare 3’s lack of new maps, it seems that Activision has new plans forCall of Duty 2025.

Insider Gaming reportedthatCall of Duty 2025will now feature a mixture of remasteredBlack Ops 2maps and new, original maps, according to multiple sources. One of these sources speculated that this is a direct response to criticism surroundingModern Warfare 3’s maps. The game is still set to be a sequel toBlack Ops 2and will take place in 2030, five years after the events ofBlack Ops 2’s campaign. This will be the firstCall of Dutygame set in the future since2018’sBlack Ops 4.

Treyarch is developingCall of Duty 2024which is also rumored to be aBlack Opstitle, but is set during the Gulf War in the early 1990s. It’s not known whether Treyarch is developingCall of Duty 2025as well, or if Sledgehammer will take up that responsibility, which seems to be the more likely scenario. Infinity Ward has never developed aBlack Opstitle and will likely be hard at work on its ownCall of Dutygame.
