Call of Duty: Warzonehas seen a bumpy road since the battle royale spinoff of the massively popular shooter franchise first debuted in early 2020. While the game built up a massive player base over the first year of its lifespan, that number has seemingly fallen off rapidly over its second year as Activision previously reported that thebattle royale lost nearly 50 million playersthroughout its second year on the market. Now, withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2set to come out later this year alongsideCall of Duty: Warzone 2, a long-requested feature may be in the upcoming sequel.
With the breakout success ofApex Legendsand the inclusion of the game’s popular Firing Range mode, manyCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers have suggested a similar change for the Activision-published franchise.Apex’s Firing Range gives players a chance to not only practice new characters and learn their unique abilities, but also gives them access to all the guns in the game allowing players to test different guns as well as different loadouts to suit their playstyle. Now, a recentCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2leak has fans speculating a Firing Range may be coming withWarzone 2.

ProminentCall of Dutyleaker TheGhostOfHope shareda screenshot ofModern Warfare 2this morning showing off a firing range being tested for the highly-anticipated sequel. While the leaker did not make any hard confirmations on the feature’s inclusion inWarzone, they did make the assumption that it “will also come toWarzone 2.” A firing range for players to test out gun loadouts has been one of the game’s most highly-requested features as players currently can only practice in less “high stakes” game modes.
Loadouts have been a controversial topic within theWarzonecommunity in recent months as changes made to the game’s loadout system have significantly impacted gameplay. Recent changes have given players respawning from the Gulag a chance toacquire a new loadout for freerather than having to spend any money to swap weapons mid-match. Another subsequent update further changes the loadout drops to make them occur much earlier in the map with players accusing the update of benefiting campers.
Warzone’s addition of a firing range feature for the game’s sequel would be a long-awaited addition to the highly-anticipated sequel as Activision recently lifted the veil on the highly-anticipated 2022Call of Dutytitle. A tweet from Infinity Ward officiallyintroduced the game asCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2and gave fans a first look at the game’s logo, while previous reports have teased “groundbreaking innovations” to come for the popular franchise. Following the recent downswing ofWarzone, a new version of the game with significant updates and fan-requested features could be just the jolt the franchise needs.
