The Lost Sands Adventure has appeared inSea of Thieves. The Golden Sands Outpost has changed and now the community has the chance to dictate its future. Originally players found the outpost inSea of Thievesto be covered in a mysterious mist while also being completely deserted. Until now, that has been a mysterymany pirateswere desperate to solve.
The Lost Sands Adventure brings with it moral dilemmas, pirate antics, and the first community action that thisopen-world adventurehas ever seen. It contains a potential hint into solving a mystery that has been on players' minds since the mist appeared: What’s happened to the Golden Sands Outpost? Here’s how to complete the questline, and what decisions the crew will need to make regarding this mysterious island’s fate.

What Is It?
Essentially, the Lost Sands Adventure is a series of two different voyages that will allow the community and the crew themselves to dictate the future of this Outpost. Since there are two different paths to take, pirates have been assured that playing both will not impact the statistics too much
However, there are specific actions players will need to take which force them to decide if they want to save or lose Golden Sands Outpost. These decisions will add to a tally that players can see, allowing them to follow the fate of this island.
How To Start The Quest
Thankfully, players don’t need to be pirate legendsor skilled fightersto begin this adventure. All they need to do is find an active outpost within theSea of Thievesand look for Larinna. Players will find her leaning up against the pillar outside the tavern. Luckily, players spawn in the taverns, so they shouldn’t need to travel too far to find this legendary NPC.

After beginning to speak to her, there should be a dialogue option to start the adventure. It’s then that the crew will be given their first decision. Do they want to save Golden Sands Outpost, or do they want to destroy it, leaving it to succumb to the mist forever? Simply convene with the crew and select the chosen voyage to continue down that path. Selecting one quest will not eliminate the other, so players do not need to worry about only being able to play this experience once.
Choosing A Path
The Hunter’s Path
The Hunter’s Path is one of the more descriptive choices. It mentions that the playerwants to save the Outpost, so choose this if the crew is interested in removing the mist.Once the Hunter’s Path has been selected, players will be prompted to find a man named Merrick on Golden Sands Outpost.
As players traverse through this questline looking for missing people and collecting supplies, they will get the chance tounderstand more about what has happenedto this island. It may involve a bit of going back, and forth and there are no checkpoints, so it will need to be done in one go. However, it seems to be for a good cause. Every action taken and item delivered will help, so verify to grab as much as possible.
The Servant’s Path
The wording when accepting the Servant’s Path can be a bit misleading. Many players may think it will lead to learning more about the mysteries of the island, butit will end with them destroying it.Luckily, the crew is more than welcome to try out both and see what they like.

Again, speak to Larinna and accept the path. This will take the crew to a place called Wanderer’s Refuge, where they can discover the plans for Golden Sands Outpost. As soon as they arrive, players will find this is aReapers element of the game. This may influence some to side with them or to go against them, but it’s worth following through for the commendations. It’s a riskier plan and ends in the crew serving the Reaper’s Bones, but it’s a fun path to play. Like the Hunter’s Path, the crew will need to do this in one go, due to the lack of checkpoints.
How Long Does It Go On For?
Unfortunately,Sea of Thievescannot tally up the quests forever. This event has a start date and a rather impending end date, where hopefully all will be revealed and the mystery will have a conclusion. The impending conclusion only pushes crews to keep trying to either save or destroy the Golden Sands Outpost and see what impact their choices will have on the game as a whole.
The event has already begun and ends on May 16, 2025, meaning players will only have hd two weeks to choose the path they are willing to take and try to keep the tally on their side. It will truly be an interesting experience and journeyas the community comes togetherfor the first time to dictate the story of this wonderfully unique open-world adventure.
