The dragons ofThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimare known for taking out countless unsuspecting players exploring the vast frigid landscape of Bethesda Softworks' RPG, and that’s no different from one who was killed by a Blood Dragon. ASkyrimfan was recently killed by the aforementioned dragon type and in the heat of the moment, they were able to capture the exact moment the dragon takes one final bite.
Reddit user Glinelkrieg posted an image of their adventure in the world ofSkyrima few days ago in which they are in the final moment of an epic battle with a Blood Dragon. The player kept the Blood Dragon at low health and seemed to have neared victory, but confirmed that the screenshot portrayed “THAT moment,” hinting at the unfortunate timing of being unable to land one final blow before the Blood Dragon did. While the image captures a devastating setback for theSkyrimplayer who will respawn at their last save, it also shows the beauty ofSkyrim’s ambushing dragonswhen observed closely.

Like otherSkyrimdragons, the Blood Dragon that Glinelkrieg fell to has a ranging color pallet, most notably green and light brown, and its piercing eyes that are a bright shade of yellow. The fan was able to capture the dragon in such detail because the creature had landed on the ground and was staying in close enough proximity to Glinelkrieg that it was taking bites out of their health.
Although armor often plays a role in the damage taken from dragons, it’s currently unclear what sort of gear Glinelkrieg was wearing. TheSkyrimplayer’s Magickaand Stamina were drained in addition to their health as they took their final swings, suggesting that the player was using spells in their assault on the Blood Dragon.
There are many important moments inSkyrimthat can be ruined by the arrival of a dragon, and they can even kill important characters should they attack a village or outpost, but Glinelkrieg was seemingly attacked in the open landscape. Given how close Glinelkrieg was to defeating the Blood Dragon that killed them, they may have been able to exact their revenge on the flying beast and absorbed theirDragon Soulafter returning to the scene of the screenshot. SomeSkyrimplayers have pointed out that the Blood Dragon left Glinelkrieg with a toothy grin of a smile that shows the piercing daggers within its jaw that reduced their health to nothing.
