Thanks to a new mod, Maxwell the Cat can now be found inThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. The popular meme has made its way around various different games and has now finally landed inSkyrim, so players can carry it around wherever they wish.
Maxwell the Cat had a quick rise to fame in October and November 2022, although it has been around in a different form before. Originally, it started out with a single image on Imgur, which was posted by user Voidhawk42 of a tuxedo cat loafing on a letter that reads “Please do not bend.” The image took on a whole new life when in October 2022a 3D model was added to Steam Workshop. It was then viewed over 20,000 times and was favorited over 500 times within two months. Then Steam user ScottRim turned the model into a carryable item, therefore Maxwell started to show up in video games, as well as various videos, accompanied by music. Perhaps a little-known fact is that the cat’s actual name is Jess, and she’s the cat of Voidhawk42.

To add to Maxwell the Cat’s repertoire, the meme is now available inSkyrimin the form of a modmade by RoastGorilla439. It can be found on the Nexus Mods website and once someone adds it to the game, Maxwell the Cat can be found in the Whiterun stables. It is a misc item, so it has no AI, but real fans will likely just be happy to carry Maxwell the Cat around during their adventures in Skyrim. The addition had a warm welcome from commenters, saying they will definitely install the mod for their next playthrough. Although it seems there are still people who mistake Maxwell the Cat for Uni, another famous internet cat who has his own Twitter and Instagram accounts.
One commenter brought up an interesting idea on how to make Maxwell the Cat even bigger in the world ofSkyrim. The suggestion was, that instead of just the one Maxwell, there should be acollection of them hidden throughoutSkyrim, wearing different outfits. User TheLordoftheCasuals said it could be a simple solution of each Maxwell having a different hat for each location. “Whiterun Maxwell (standard), Solitude Maxwell (Imperial), Windhelm Maxwell (Stormcloak), Winterhold Maxwell (mage), etc.” The idea was a big success with many other commenters expressing support for an updated version of the mod.
Whether RoastGorilla439 decides to listen to suggestions and creates a collection of Maxwells around Skyrim remains to be seen. However, if it comes to pass, it might bring onanother renaissance ofSkyrimas players return, in the hope of completing their collection of Maxwells.
