Given the title’s popularity, one might expect every detail ofSkyrimto be common knowledge. However, some players still stumble across some odd information from time to time. This includes one who noticed thatSkyrim’s beggars could sometimes end up with a ridiculous amount of money.

As mostSkyrimplayers know, the game’s Pickpocketing system lets them view an NPC’s inventory. Reddit user Alt-Pour-Choses decided to peek into the pockets of Silda the Unseen, a beggar from Windhelm who doubles asone ofSkyrim’s Sneak skill trainers. As shown by the screenshot posted to Reddit, offering this service allows her to accrue a potentially absurd amount of the Dragonborn’s money. For anyone wondering if that’s true, the screenshot shows Silda with 20,950 Gold Coins. Meanwhile, Hjerim costs 12,000 Gold, though a glitch allows players to acquire it for as little as 8,000. Cleaning up the mansion afterSkyrim’sBlood on the Ice questbumps the total up to 12,500. Furnishing the Armory, Enchanting and Alchemy labs, Living Room, Bedroom Kitchen, and Children’s Room are an additional 9,750, for a total of 22,250. So, while Silda wouldn’t be able to buy all Hjerim’s upgrades, she could afford most of them. If nothing else, it’s odd that she is still wearing tattered rags and living on the street.
Fans on the subreddit had various reactions to learning that a beggar has enough Gold to buySkyrim’s second-most expensive player home. One commenter joked that Silda the Unseen isn’t actually homeless and is running a con on the Dragonborn. Another hypothesized that Silda has abysmal credit and can’t buy a house at any price. Others suggested it was due to the Dragonborn buying up all ofSkyrim’s houses or that Silda was saving up to move somewhere in a nicer city.
One more serious commenter noted that beggars buying a house and nicer clothes would be a good bit of reactivity forThe Elder Scrolls 6. An NPC inFallout: New Vegasdid something similar, so it’s not an impossible request. Of course, given theexpected release date forThe Elder Scrolls 6, it will be a bit of a wait before any such feature becomes a reality.
