As the release dates for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are drawing closer, Sony and Microsoft have ramped up marketing efforts with more product information, trailers, and even getting celebrities involved. In a now deleted Instagram video, famous rapper Snoop Dogg showed off a Xbox Series X refrigerator.

The rapper turned 49 earlier this week, and it seems as a present, Microsoft sent him a full-sized fridge modeled after the Xbox Series X. The fridge is complete with a light-upXbox logoin the top left corner and the disk drive, which appears to function like a handle for the fridge. In the video, Snoop Dogg opens the Xbox Series X fridge to reveal it is fully stocked with food, drinks, and a few gifts from Xbox.

Xbox logo necklaces and jewelry can be seen scattered around the fridge and the top row of the fridge is occupied by an actualXbox Series X consoleand a large Xbox Series X cake that reads, “Happy Birthday to the Xbox OG.” Snoop Dogg has been a loyal Xbox user for most of his famous career and after retiring from music a few years ago, he now spends some time streaming video games and has even appeared in a good amount of notable video games.

The rapper made his video game debut in the 2003 action shooterTrue Crime: Streets of LA. Snoop Dogg has also appeared as himself inTekken Tag Tournament 2,Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, and has been involved with well-known FPS games, appearing as an announcer inCall 0f Duty: Ghosts, and in atrailer forGhost Recon: Breakpoint.

At the end of the video, Snoop Dogg says the famous EA “It’s in the game” quote. Snoop Dogg has been involved with or been an announcer for a few EA games includingUFC 3,Madden 20, andNHL 20. The retired rapper has quite the resume of games he has been involved with and may even have a growing career as a video game announcer. Snoop Dogg has also been on numerous video game streams likeMaddenand an exclusivepre-release stream ofMortal Kombat 11.

Celebrities are an effective way to market the next-gen consoles, especially if they are well known in the video game community.PlayStation recently hired rapper Travis Scottas a Strategic Creative Partner and the rapper has become very famous for his appearance inFortniteand a McDonald’s meal in his name. As both consoles release in the next weeks, more celebrities may hop to one side or the other to support the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
