Endnight is invested in keeping its recently released survival horror gameSons of the Forestin good shape, and the developer has just sent Patch 04 out into the wild with a few additions and a wealth of improvements. While the hype has died down now, the follow-up to 2018’sThe Forestwas at one point themost wishlisted game on Steam, even beating outStarfield, which is a mighty achievement considering it’s an indie title.
Although it was released in early access, the game was well received when it launched a couple of months ago, and the studio putting a lot of love into it is helping to keep it in good standing. In fact, it wasn’t that long ago thatSons of the Foresthad its third major patch, which implemented a rideable electric unicycle and a load of other assets, and now the next big update has rolled out.

Like the previous updates, Patch 04 brings with it a lot of tweaks toSons of the Forest, as well as some new things. First and foremost is the inclusion of an “Action Cam” item, as well as the “first found footage tape.” Fans will also notice there’s now the ability to name save files, and the studio has added a new point of interest. Of course, there is a list of bug fixes to go with the update as well. This includes a fix for when a player gets into a “bad state” if spamming a weapon’s hotkey while also opening a door with a keycard, as well as patching out a number of issues in multiplayer.
On top of this, there’s also been a tweak toSons of the Forest’s beloved Kelvin. More specifically, he can now carry two logs at the same time and can also finish building shelves. For those who haven’t played the game, Kelvin is the game’s helpful AI character who can assist the player by performing a number of tasks, such as gathering wood. While he still has his issues, fans have been grateful for his inclusion, especially for those who value his company during solo playthroughs.
Right now, it seems thatco-op and multiplayer survival gamesare still going strong, with plenty of offerings from big and small studios for players to test their mettle, and not just in horror either.Sons of the Forestis just one way people can try their luck in a harsh digital environment, and it looks like Endnight is committed to keeping its sequel a fun pastime for the community.
