One of the most integral aspects ofStarfieldis the game’s spectacular scale, and among the 1,000+ planets that exist in the game, players can actually travel to and land on the planet that is best known in theHalouniverse as the planet Reach.Starfieldcontains countless explorable planets throughout the many star systems that neighbor the solar system, with each world home to its own destinations to visit, resources to extract, and in some cases, life to study.

The galaxy ofStarfieldfeatures an unbelievable potential for discovery, so much so that hardly any one player has yet had time to see it all - much less survey every single planet. While it may be an activity that many players will see little value in,exploration is one ofStarfield’s key ingredients, and there’s enough of it to fuel players' journeys for years to come. WithStarfield’s story set a few hundred years in the future where humans have colonized other star systems near to the Solar system, players are able to travel to stars that are visible in the real world’s night sky - from the nearby Alpha Centauri system to the Ursa Major constellation.

The ability to travel to stars in the local group has left many players in search of other popular planets and moons that are significant in other science-fiction franchises. Fans have already had a taste of success in this regard, with some players successfully identifying and surveying the planet Eridani II of the Eridani star system. In theHaloseries, this world is better known as the planet Reach, a crucial human colony world that served as the nexus of the UNSC military as well as the site of many military shipyards. The planet is such an important part of theHalouniverse and its story that the events regarding it are portrayed throughout the prequel game,Halo: Reach, which largely involves players being on the planet itself.

When it comes toStarfield, the planet isn’t all that different toHalo’s interpretation of the world prior to the Covenant’s assault on it. It’s a beautiful, temperate planet boasting plenty of life and vast oceans, along with a relatively Earth-like gravity and a stable, oxygen-inclusive atmosphere. Not only can players safely walk about the planet’s surface without their spacesuit on, it actually makes for agood outpost location inStarfieldtoo, boasting plenty of very useful resources.

Players have been inspired to continue their search for other notable locations withinStarfield’s vast galaxy, with some examples including more landmarks from theHalouniverse, the moon Acheron from theAlienfranchise, and much more.Given the sheer scale ofStarfield, there’s certainly no shortage of space to explore, and its likely players will continue to be amazed by what the game’s world has to offer for years to come.

Starfieldis available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
