Bethesda has inadvertently teased thatStarfield’s Shattered Space DLC may have a lot to do with one of the game’s main factions, House Va’ruun.Starfieldhas just recently revealed a major new update that will finally bring maps to each major city, add new icons for the different shops and eateries, provide new ways for players to customize their ships, and much more.
Bethesda Game Studios had confirmed the Shattered Space DLC beforeStarfield’s September 2023 launch. Naturally, as the main game was rolling out, no concrete details have been shared by Bethesda at all until recently. In an interview with Kinda Funny Games,StarfieldDirector Todd Howardconfirmed that the DLC is, in fact, planning to go live this year, and that fans can expect it to land sometime in the Fall.
One observantStarfieldfan pointed out a crucial detail regarding Shattered Space on Reddit. In watchingStarfield’s recent May update video, Bradyla 123 caught a glimpse of a particular frame showing a developer working on the DLC. In the video, the dev can be seen adjusting the position of two large spires on a dark, rocky planet with a purple sky. In the corner of the screen lists the names of these assets, all labeled “House Va’ruun”, one of themost important factions inStarfield.
Starfield Shattered Space DLC Could Involve House Va’ruun
The look of these assets and the planet they’re on matches up quite well with the dark aesthetic of House Va’ruun. This being so, this glimpse may be pointing toward players potentially getting to visit Va’ruun’s capital city, Dazra. InStarfield,the UC Vanguard, Freestar Collective, Crimson Fleet, and Ryujin Industries all have their own full-blown faction questlines. Knowing this, it would make sense for the more sinister House Va’ruun to finally be given the spotlight in Shattered Space. It’ll be interesting to know whether fellow Constellation member Andreja, one ofStarfield’s four romanceable companions, will be involved in the story of Shattered Space, considering she’s a former Va’ruun member.
Todd Howard has confirmed that Shattered Space is coming in the Fall, and fans may be able to learn more atXbox’s Summer Game Fest showcase on June 9. In the meantime, Bethesda Game Studios is confirmed to be working on even more patches and improvements, including a new land vehicle which would make exploring the surfaces of planets a bit smoother, even more quests, and, of course, Creation Kit mod support.Starfield’s May update, which will most notably add city maps, is locked in for May 15.
