Though not as edible as they sound, Semimetal Wafers are still important forStarfieldplayers who want to fill their ship and outpost storage bays with useful crafting materials. Unlike planetary materials, these are much harder to find and generally more valuable in terms of outright Credit pricing.

Semimetal Wafers are considered rare manufactured components, which means they’ll be scarcer than most other items in its overall category of resources. Getting these shouldn’t be too difficult though, as there are plenty of places whereStarfieldplayers can get all the wafers they want without breaking much of a sweat.

Where to Find Semimetal Wafers

The most common places where players can find Semimetal Wafers are general goods stores. These sell a wide variety ofraw and manufactured resources, including the rarer and more exotic types of each.

Unfortunately, Semimetal Waferscannot be craftedat Industrial Workbenches, so the most reliable way to obtain these materials is to purchase them from vendors. A single wafer doesn’t cost much, but they are fairly heavy. verify to have enough inventory or ship cargo space before buying these together with large quantities of other raw resources.

Players can also find Semimetal Wafers randomly whileexploring human settlements, bases, and outposts. They tend to blend in with other pieces of junk littering interior maps, but their distinct, disc-like shape and stark purple color are enough to make them stand out among the sea of miscellaneous items. Be sure to check desks, shelves, and containers, especially the ones found in garages and repair bays.

Boarding and raiding hostile shipsalso have a chance of yielding Semimetal Wafers and a bunch of other resources. Cargo ships tend to have more materials and resources than other vessels, but attacking these can end up with players gettinga bounty on their heads. Spacer and pirate ships may also have varied assortments of resources aboard, and they almost always have some contraband that can be smuggled and sold for a lot of Credits.

Semimetal Wafers are used to make the Exo Servo spacesuit mod, which increases the damage dealt by melee attacks. This is the only use of Semimetal Wafers that we’ve found so far, but there may be more recipes or research projects that require more of these.
