Square Enix’sFinal Fantasy Pixel Remasterseries of games have been a surprising and delightful way to re-experience the older titles. The remasters update the first six games of the franchise, with the latest beingFinal Fantasy 4. While there are someomissions from theFinal Fantasy 4 Pixel Remaster, it’s a warmly regarded entry and retains everything from the SNES original. For fans looking forward to the upcoming remaster ofFinal Fantasy 5, they don’t have to wait long, as it is coming very soon.
The first three games of these remasters of this enduringly popular franchise were all released on the same day, whileFinal Fantasy 4 Pixel Remasterreleased a month later. These games are coming to both PC and mobile, with theoriginal Steam versions of bothFinal Fantasy 5and6being removedfrom the storefront to make room for these arguably more faithfulPixel Remasters. While Steam confirmed the release date of the fifth game, the sixth entry’s release time is still unknown.

Final Fantasy 5has the player once again saving the world from the forces of evil, as they have corrupted the four Crystals that keep the balance of order, which unites four playable party members on their quest. This includes the wanderer Bartz Klauser, the princess Lenna Charlotte Tycoon, the amnesiac Galuf Doe, and the pretty-boy pirate Faris Scherwiz. Steam confirms that players can begin their journey with these four on November 10.
This game builds upon the previous entry’s ATB Battle system, with even more jobs that can be used, and even unique abilities that can combine skills to other classes. However, some keyfeatures of the otherFinal Fantasy Pixel Remastertitleswill be present here. This includes the updated pixel art designs that aim to be as faithful to the originals as possible, the arranged music being overseen by original series composer Nobuo Uematsu, and other quality-of-life functions that aim to smooth out the original gameplay.
Other material included are extra features, such as a detailed beastiary that players can flip through, an illustration gallery showing off some of the concept art drawn byFinal Fantasy’s original artist and designer, Yoshitaka Amano. Players can pre-purchase this entry on Steam or Mobile for 20% off, or they can buy an entire bundle of all six remasters for 22% off, which will grant them some extra bonuses like the soundtrack and wallpapers.
