Summary

There are plenty of magic users in the world ofSolo Leveling, and they play a crucial role in almost every Dungeon Raid. While most magic users are capable of basic elemental spells, Hunters usuallyhave their specialization. From healing to supporting spells to curses and offensive magic.

The power and mana of a Hunter depends on their rank (or vice versa), and no amount of training can increase that limit. There are, however, several artifacts and items to boost one’s magic proficiency. A well-balanced raiding party will almost always have a mage, whether it be a healer, a general supportive mage, or a powerful master of offense.

Min Byung-Gyu

12Cho Kyuhwan

C-rank Mage

Cho Kyuhwan was a morally bankrupt and evil hunter whoworked with Hwang Dongsuk’s raid squad. Like his peers, he was willing to kill a person for personal profit.

Kyuhwan had incredible control over fire magic despite being just a C-rank. He was able to cause serious damage to most hunters of his stature with just one swift attack. Despite having decent talent, Cho chose a life of crime that eventually led to his downfall.

11Song Chi-Yul

Brave C-Rank Hunter Who Survived Double Dungeon

Song Chi-Yul was the leader of the hunters who unknowinglyended up in the Double Dungeon. The loss of lives there continued to bother Chi-Yul for a long time, and he blamed himself for everything. Despite losing his arm, Song continued working as a hunter for a while. During one of his missions, Kang Taeshik’s murderous nature was revealed, and as push came to shove, Song volunteered to fight the Korean Hunters Association’s inspector.

I’d like to spend what I have left contributing to society.

Despite being just a C-rank, Chi-Yul is the kind of person who stands up for others. When the Jeju Island raid was planned, he came out of retirement to protect civilians from the evolved ants. Chi-Yul is adept at using fire magic, and his go-to weapon is a sword.

10Park Heejin

White Tiger Guild’s Mage

Park Heejin is a B-rank hunter. Perceptive, intelligent, and kind, she is the type of person everyone wants in their guild. Park is one of the many unfortunate hunters whoget stuck in the Red Gate. When their leader, Kim Chul, decides to abandon weaker hunters to focus on killing the dungeon boss, Heejin surprisingly refuses to go with him and instead joins Sung Jinwoo’s group.

Kim Chul failed to notice that arrow. You are not an E-rank hunter right?

It turns out that Park, unlike other hunters, has sensed that Jinwoo is strong. Her quick thinking and perceptive nature end up saving her life, while Kim’s group perishes. Heejin has also shown that she is the kind of person who is willing to go above and beyond for her team.

9Gina

Reckless A-Ranker From Korea

Gina is a mage-typeA-rank hunter associated withthe Hunters Guild. She is a hard-headed and reserved young woman who takes her responsibilities seriously. Gina is one of the rare mages with telekinetic powers. However, her ability fails against high-level monsters and is mostly effective against weaker rivals.

Despite being somewhat experienced, Gina can sometimes be quite reckless and make decisions without proper forethought. She is a decent A-rank hunter but definitely noton par with the best in Korea. In the Hunters Guild Gate arc, Gina struggles to fight back against high orcs, and her telekinesis barely has any effect on them. If not for Jinwoo’s timely rescue, she, along with her raid team, would have been killed by Kargalgan’s minions.

8Lee Bora

Hunters Guild’s A-Rank Hunter

Lee Bora is a respectable A-ranker who possesses intimidating magical powers. But unlike hunters who let success get to their heads, Bora appears to be genuinely fascinated by her powers and is interested in having a deeper understanding of them.

Lee has an exceptionally heightened sense, andeven someone like Sung Jinwoocannot fool her. She is the only hunter in Hunters Guild Strike Team B who notices Jinwoo surreptitiously killing the high orcs to protect her squad. Bora is also gifted with summoning powers, which are capable of overwhelming even B-rank monsters.

7Akari Shimizu

Draw Sword Guild, S-Rank Healer

Akari was a powerful healer from Japan, who came with other members of the Draw Sword Guild to participate in the 4th Jeju Island Raid. While she didn’t have much “screen” time, she was recognized bysome of the most powerful huntersin Japan and was one of the only mages to join the party.

Interestingly enough, she was also a capable fighter and wielded a huge Battle Axe. Most mages either stay away from skirmishes, or at least engage from a distance, but Akari was clearly capable of holding her own in melee combat. Her ultimate fate was quite unfortunate and left a lot of questions about her powers.

6Min Byung-Gyu

Retired S-Rank Healer

Min Byung-Gyu is a powerful Healer Mage and is the only known Korean S-Rank Hunter to have retired early. After a traumatic raid on Jeju Island, he decided that he would rather try and be a civilian teacher, away from Dungeons and Raids. Ultimately, he chose to support his friends and join his team in one last Raid.

According to himself, Min Byung-Gyu has the offensive capabilities of an A-Rank Hunter. He is a powerful healer and has access to incredibly strong buffing spells. During the final Jeju Island Raid, he supported his team members to the very end and even saved Cha Hae-Inafterhis unfortunate demise.

5Kei

Draw Sword Guild, S-Rank

Kai was a powerful Ice Mage, who came from Japan with the Draw Sword Guild. His nose was incredibly sensitive to mana, much like Cha Hae-In, which is why he opted to wear a mask around other Hunters.

His Ice magic wasquite versatile in combat, allowing him to use it both offensively and defensively. On top of that, he was capable of quickly encasing large amounts of enemies, which he used to a great extent on the Jeju Island Raid. He was also capable of impressive physical feats, such as keeping up with certain Assassin-type Hunters and quickly covering large distances.

4Choi Jong-In

Hunters Guild Leader, S-Rank

Choi Jong-In is the leader of the Hunters Guild for many reasons, and they go much further than his magic proficiency. He is a great tactician, used to effectively leading large raiding parties with minimal casualties. His various strategies and tactics have earned his guild many successful Dungeons.

On top of that, he is considered to be one of the most powerful Mage Hunters, with incredibly potent fire magic. He is capable of easily wiping out large groups of enemies and has an arsenal of powerful fire attacks to deal with large enemies and bosses.

3Christopher Reed

National Level Hunter

Christopher Reed was a solo S-Rank Hunter, who was also ranked as the 3rd National Level Hunter. He was capable of incredibly powerful Spiritual Body Manifestation, giving him a new powerful body, and allowing him to channel incredibly powerful fire attacks.

While unfortunately, the full fight happened offscreen, the aftermath of his battle with 3 Monarchs was absolutely devastating. Raging fires continued to burn on the battlefield, long after the actual fighting was done. Being a vessel for one of the Rulers made him one of thestrongest Hunters in the world, and his full potential is difficult to gauge.
