Super Smash Bros. Ultimateis no stranger to fanmade mods for its large roster of playable characters. This includes mods for the characters from the long-running and popularThe Legend of Zeldafranchise. Some modders go different routes for these mods, with some adding new characters likeTetra as a playable character inSmash Ultimate, or costumes based on otherZeldagames in the franchise. One of the most popular characters modders go for is the franchise’s big bad, the King of Evil Ganondorf.
Ganondorf is one of the most popular characters to play as inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, due to his heavy powerhouse playstyle. This sense of power is bolstered by Ganon even being aboss inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate’s single-player modes, Classic and World of Light. This bestial form that Ganondorf transforms into is the same one fromOcarina of Time’s final battle, making it the perfect base for a custom skin mod.

This mod is titled “Beast Ganon” and was created by prominentSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatemodder nanobuds. It turns Ganondorf into the more pig-like Ganon beast, which takes a lot of cues from hisOcarina of Timeinspiration. Unlike the boss battle that players can fight, the skin scales him down to fit Ganondorf’s playable proportions, but it still has many features that are modeled after it, such as his body and head.
ThisGanondorf modgoes the extra mile to make this playable iteration of Ganon faithful to various interpretations of the character from past games. Some screenshots for example show that his sword has been replaced to now resemble the ones that Ganon uses during the final battle ofOcarina of Time, as opposed to Ganondorf’s normal one.
This mod also has one color palette that is based onCalamity Ganon fromHyule Warriors: Age of Calamity, evidenced by its crimson and pink colors. The fellow modder who was responsible for this color palette, Aaronitmar, notes that nanobuds even made some parts of this mod glow like fire. This can be even seen in some screenshots on the mod’s GameBanana page. The other two color pallettes that are included in this mod are based on other games, with the blue one resembling Ganon’s appearance in games likeA Link to the Pastwith the other one being based onTwilight Princess.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimateis available now for Nintendo Switch.
