Earlier this year, it was announced thatTemtemwould begetting PS4, Switch, and Xbox One ports, allowing players to take theirPokemon-like MMORPG across multiple platforms. That’s still the plan, but today, developer Crema Games confirmed that it’s dropped the PS4 and Xbox ports from the lineup.

Amid the announcements that made up Sony’s latest State of Play event yesterday was news thatTemtemis coming to the PS5, with Crema later announcing that the game is coming to the Xbox Series X as well. As a result of this, though, the studio has decided to cancel the current-gen PlayStation and Xbox versions in order to cut down on the complications that come with juggling multiple platforms’ different guidelines for patches and updates.

“This hasn’t been an easy decision,” reads an update onTemtem’s Kickstarterpage, “we understand many of our backers supported us with the intent of playing on their current systems and we always try to put our backers first. As the next-gen approaches and asTemtemkeeps growing we made the decision to fully focus our efforts on bringing the best possible game experience to players on the newest hardware.”

So that’s it for the PS4 and Xbox One versions ofTemtem. Fortunately for Switch owners, the game is still on track to come to Nintendo’s current system, according to a tweet on the officialTemtemTwitter. This means fans will still be able to watch as the game goes head-to-head againstPokemon SwordandShield, competing with the monster-collecting franchise that inspired it.

For those who were looking forward to the PS4 and Xbox One ports, Crema is providing a few options. These include getting a refund, upgrading to the PS5 or Xbox Series X version ofTemtemfor free, or picking a different platform like PC and Switch. These options, Crema says, are available for all Kickstarter backers, as well as backers who purchased the game’s Deluxe Edition on BackerKit.

Since it launched in early access form at the start of this year,Temtemhas managed to make a name for itself among othercreature-collecting games that aren’tPokemon, offering players plenty of unique features that fans of Nintendo’s juggernaut have been wanting for years. It’ll still be a little while before they’ll be able to experience it on next-gen consoles and the Switch, though. Crema is planning to launch the console versions when the game leaves early access, which isn’t slated to happen until sometime in 2021.

Temtemis available for PC, with PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X ports planned to come out in 2021.
