Withproduction onThe Penguinseries underway, HBO Max released an official teaser trailer that includes footage from the show. The teaser opens with Farrell’s Penguin contemplating what kind of life he wants and how guys like him must take whatever they decide belongs to them. The teaser also includes footage of Michael Kelly’s character, whom Penguin seemingly calls Falcone’s right-hand man. What follows are scenes of conflict between Penguin and the various characters seeking power positions made available by Falcone’s death.

Perhaps the most notable character in the teaser aside from the Penguin isCristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone, daughter of the late Carmine Falcone. Although she doesn’t have any dialogue in the teaser, Sofia and Penguin are seen sharing drinks and seemingly toasting, suggesting an alliance between the two. Of course, this potential alliance may be uneasy at best. The teaser concludes with Penguin shooting an unseen individual and laughing at his work, with a voiceover proclaiming himself as the the “new Kingpin of Gotham.”

The preview offers a lot of footage from thePenguinseries for a behind-the-scenes teaser. Of course,The Penguinwill tie intoThe Batman 2, so executive producer Matt Reeves will likely keep as many details as possible close to the chest. Still, fans can tell Penguin is a serious threat to those around him, made evident by his willingness to get involved in gunfights and confront his enemies directly.

MultipleThe Batmanspinoffswere reportedly being developed by Reeves. However,The Penguinseries is the only one to get off the ground to date. So, fans are likely excited to see Reeves' DC crime saga continue, especially now that they know Robert Pattinson’s Batman will be independent of James Gunn’s separate DC Universe.
