New photos from the set of Warner Bros. and DC’sThe Batmanprovide the latest glimpse at Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. The collection of photos also feature Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobbleplot/Penguin, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.
The Batmanwas in the midst of production when the COVID-19 pandemic prompted Warner Bros. to suspend filming indefinitely in March, a decision that would lead to the studio pushing back the blockbuster’s June 2021 release date to October of the same year. Once filming resumed in September, the production faced another setback when Pattinson tested positive for COVID-19, forcing cast and crew to self-quarantine for two weeksuntil the lead star was cleared of the virus. Now, production has been back in action for roughly one month and multiple cast members recently assembled in Liverpool, England, to film what appears to be a funeral sequence.

The photos feature Pattinson, Kravitz, Farrell, Turturro, and a crowd of extras filming the scene on the steps of St. George’s Hall. In addition to providing another glimpse at Farrell’s extensive make-up, whichrendered the actor unrecognizable even to his co-stars, the images reveal Kravitz’s Selina Kyle in a stylish black outfit and knee-high leather boots. While the identity of the deceased individual is unknown, the presence of so many prominent characters suggests they were an influential figure in Gotham City. The fact that certain photos show Kravitz and Turturro walking arm in arm also indicates Catwoman and crime boss Carmine Falcone have ties to each other, not unlike their comic book counterparts.
In Frank Miller’sBatman: Year One, Catwoman leaves Falcone permanently scarred after the crime boss and his henchmen catch her trying the rob them. Roughly a decade later, writer Jeph Loeb would imply that Catwoman suspects she is the illegitimate daughter of Falcone in the 14-part limited seriesBatman: Dark Victory. These suspicions would yield circumstantial but inconclusive evidence suggesting Kyle is a Falcone inCatwoman: When in Rome. However, the Arkham video gameshave officially listed Catwoman as one of the potential children of Falcone.

The wait forThe Batmanhas been extended by over a year followingWarner Bros.' recent schedule adjustments. The Caped Crusader’s latest cinematic outing will now debut in theaters in March 2022, with Denis Villeneuve’sDunetaking its previously designated October 2021 date.
WhileThe Batmanmay exist within its own universe, separate from Warner Bros. shared DC Extended Universe, the Matt Reeves film is expanding its corner of the multiverse withan HBO Max series. Produced by Reeves and written by Terence Winter, the untitled series will focus on the Gotham City Police Department and the corruption of Gotham.

The Batmanis scheduled to be released in theaters on June 05, 2025.
