The Belchers finally making their way to the big screen seems, to many fans, a much overdue transition. TheFoxshow’s main characters consist of Bob (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) and his wife Linda (voiced by John Roberts). Bob and Linda are parents to Tina (Mintz), Louise (Kristen Schaal), and Gene (Eugene Mirman). Their hilarious typical family antics and escapades are gearing up to take center stage inThe Bob’s Burgersmovie, which, to fans' delight, will be making its theatrical debut this weekend. The many shenanigans that the Belchers find themselves getting into always encompass and feature appearances from the various side characters that are nearly as adored by fans as the family themselves. Most notable among them are Tina’s frenemy Tammy (Jenny Slate), the paranoid, skittish guidance counsellor Mr. Fond (David Herman), and the Belcher’s strange landlord, Calvin Fischoeder (Kevin Kline), just to name-drop a few. These and many other iconicBob’s Burgerscharacters have won over the affection of fans without a doubt. Therefore, it’s only necessary and right that they would be making an appearance inThe Bob’s Burgersmovie as well.

Many fans would be downright disappointed and possibly even offended if they weren’t a part of the film, given that they are a crucial factor in what makes the show the hit that it is. Reportedly,The Bob’s Burgersmovie includes a cameoby nearly every side character that fans could think of. Now, in a recent interview withScreen Rant, creator of the series Loren Bouchard, director Bernard Derriman, and writer Nora Smith discussed the process behind selecting which side characters to feature in the film. It got to a point where the creative team revealed they were so overwhelmed with the number of characters that they had to choose from, that the plot started to get lost in the mix.

“It was painful. We put a lot in, and then we’re like ‘this is just a movie of cameos. We have a story, too. So we had to cut a few out, but there’s still a lot of people we certainly love that are in there," Smith stated. “But it was definitely balancing fans of the show and new people, and making sure that everybody could enjoy this movie and love the characters in it - even without knowing the history of it. We tried to do our best.” Derriman noted that at various points, nearly everyside character was inThe Bob’s Burgers Movie, to which Bouchard said, “Yeah, in the end, we knew that if somebody’s favorite character wasn’t in the movie, but it was a good movie, that the fans would forgive us.”

Bouchard is definitely right in thatBob’s Burgersfanswitnessing the Belcher family on screen in a way that reflects that hilariously contagious energy from the series will be gold to them, even if it doesn’t feature their favorite character. That said, it seems more likely than not that the movie will include their favorites.
