The Season 4 finale left fans on a cliffhanger with many different questions. What’s going to happen with The Boys? What is Sister Sage planning? When will Homelander finally be defeated? All of these questions will be answered when Season 5 airs, but until then, here are some predictions that are already being made by fans and viewers alike.
10Firecracker Will Die Early On
Homelander’s #1 Fan Won’t Last
Firecracker was introduced in Season 4 as a new member of The Seven, scouted by Sister Sage, another Season 4 newcomer. The bubbly redneck never had the most useful powers, only being able to create sparks from her fingertips.
The way she served the team instead was by digging up dirt from Starlight’s past, and with her willingness to take medication. Unfortunately for her, this medication causes her to have heart palpitations and coughing fits, a plot point in the Season 4 finale. Chances are, Firecracker won’t survive to Season 5’s midpoint.
9The Deep Will Receive His Comeuppance
The Death Of The Sea Man
Since his first appearance, Kevin Moskowitz, aka The Deep, has been one of The Boys’ most hilariously pathetic characters. From his blatant stupidity to his marine animal escapades, there is a lot to mock. But The Deep had sinister beginnings, assaulting Starlight in one of his first scenes.
Although he has already experienced a bloody beat down at the hands of Starlight, it’s not hard to imagine the story is set to make him suffer more. Some astute fans have noted that despite being Starlight’s boyfriend, Hughie has never interacted with the man who hurt her on screen. Perhaps he will in a scene where they both give him his comeuppance once and for all.
8Compound V Will Change Ashley
Vought CEO Turned Monster
Ashley Barrett is the right-hand woman to Madelyn Stillwell, turned CEO of Vought, turned verbal punching bag for Homelander. Ashley’s time on the show has been characterized by the constant fear that at any moment, the other supes will decide they no longer need her. This fear became a reality in the Season 4 finale, when she was written at the top of the list of Vought employees whomThe Seven need to killto clean away the dirt collected on them.
To save herself, Ashley injects Compound V into her arm, hoping to become a supe herself. In the Season 4 finale, viewers only saw the beginning of Ashley’s transformation into a supe. Due to Ashley’s tendency to pull out her hair out of stress, some have speculated that her bulging skull transformation was the manifestation of grotesque hair-tentacle-esque powers.
7A-Train Will Die Saving The Boys
A Deadly Redemption Arc
A-Train was the catalyst of all the events inThe Boys, with his negligent use of his super-speed killing Hughie’s girlfriend and bringing him into Butcher’s game. Since then, A-Train has gone on along redemption arc, helping out The Boys against The Seven and even saving Mother’s Milk’s life in Season 4.
As of the Season 4 finale, A-Train has been revealed as the man leaking The Seven’s information and has since escaped with his family. But it’s not far-fetched to assume that A-Train will return for the final season,helping The Boysagainst Homelander and his budding superhero army. It’s also not far-fetched to assume that he might not make it to the final episode.
6Butcher’s Arc Will Match The Comics
A Corrupt Soul Corrupted Further
The biggest difference between comic Butcher and TV Butcher is the level of ruthlessness. Though the show’s version of Butcher is still a brutal enforcer, he possesses sympathy and empathy foreign to his comic counterpart.
But in the Season 4 finale, Butcher gives in to his dark side, listening to the Joe Kessler apparition and using his Compound V-fueled, tumor-granted powers to kill Victoria Neuman, despite the rest of his team’s wishes. The Butcher who viewers saw at the end of the season shows signs of reaching new levels of gruesome brutality that will put his comic counterpart to shame.
5Sister Sage Will Betray Homelander
Like Caesar
Sister Sage was a new member of The Seven in Season 4, recruited by Homelander so that she could use her vast intellect to get Homelander what he desired: further control of Vought, the entire country, and potentially, the world. Sage’s time in The Seven shows a series of constant ups and downs. But in the end, Sage reveals that she planned most, if not all, of the events of the season. At the start of the season, it was stated that she wanted to test her theories on a global scale and see if she could succeed. By the end, despite all that happened, she achieved that.
Some fans speculate that Season 5 will showcase Sister Sage going through an opposite arc. In Season 4, she planned and schemed to make Homelander as powerful as he has ever been, just to see if she could. In Season 5, she might work on tearing him down from this pedestal, just to see if she can.
4Ryan Will Have to Kill Either Butcher or Homelander
Death of Father Figures
As the child of the late traumatized Becca Butcher and the homicidal Homelander, Ryan Butcher’s life was always going to be filled with turmoil. In Season 2, his mother shelters him from the world. In Season 3, Butcher and then Grace Mallory raise him, which ends poorly. In Season 4, he is raised by Homelander, which ends even worse.
Ryan finds himself constantly falling out with both of his father figures, Butcher and Homelander, due to the intense rivalry between the two. With one of the strongest sets of powers in the series and both his father figures ramping up the aggression, some have predicted Ryan will end up killing one of them. Or worse, that one of them will end up being forced to kill him.
3Homelander Will Finally Be Defeated
A Long Awaited Conclusion
From the start of the series, the ultimate goal has been to kill Homelander, the world’s strongest and most psychotic ‘hero’.The man has ruined the lives of many, especially Billy Butcher, who saw his wife victimized and killed due to his actions.
In the last few seasons, The Boys have formulated many ways they could potentially end Homelander. With Season 5 being the last, it’s clear that Homelander’s time is running out. And who better to punch his clock out than the Butcher himself? This highly-anticipated event is sure to be as bloody as it gets.
2Butcher Will Be the Final Villain
A Foreshadowed End
It’s no surprise thatButcher is going into Season 5 with a more ruthless streak about him. But what might surprise some fans, is how far he might go in his final crusade against the superheroes of the world. Anyone who has read the comic series knows that, in the end, it is Butcher who has to be defeated. After the majority of the superhero threats have been dealt with, mostly by him, the protagonist himself ends up being the true final boss for the rest of our main cast.
The show has deviated drastically from the comics' storyline, but some aspects remain similar. This will probably be one of them. Butcher will most likely be the last hurdle the rest of the main cast has to deal with before they can go back to having peaceful lives.

A Grisly Conclusion
The prediction thatButcher will be the final villainofThe Boysis one thing, but some viewers speculate that it will go even further. Some believe that at the end of the show, Hughie is going to have to be the one who kills Butcher.
The final arcs in the comic book involve Butcher’s plan to wipe out every supe in existence. Butcher’s last moment in the story is being murdered byHughie, who ends the series as the last surviving member of The Boys, bar Starlight. Though it breaks the hearts of many fans to admit, this theory is plausible when thinking of how Season 5 and the story ofThe Boyswill end.
