On November 1st, Fntastic releasedThe Day Before’s final trailer. However, the new video seemed suspiciously familiar to some. YouTuber Randomly recently made a video comparingThe Day Before’s latest ad to trailers for Rockstar Games’Grand Theft Auto 5,Red Dead Redemption 2, andCD Projekt Red’sCyberpunk 2077. The resemblance extends beyond a similar-sounding narrator, with the script closely resembling parts of other game trailers.

“The open world ofThe Day Beforeis beautifully and richly detailed,” says one clip from the game’s recent trailer. Randomly compared this section to a clip of aGrand Theft Auto 5trailer saying, “The game world is beautiful, massive, and diverse.” Both trailers also talk about how the developers are “reimagining” the open world.

However, this resemblance only gets more blatant as the video goes on, withThe Day Before’s trailer copying one ofRed Dead Redemption 2’s almost word for word. Both promise that combat is “deep and engaging at all times” and that weapons have “unique characteristics.” Even many of the shots are remarkably similar. At one point, Randomly plays a clip of Arthur Morgan firing a shotgun, followed by an almost identical shot of aThe Day Beforecharacter with a rifle.

Finally, Randomly’s video plays two pairs of clips comparingThe Day Before’s trailer to one forCyberpunk 2077. “Welcome to the next generation of post-apocalyptic MMO open-world survival games like never before. Immerse yourself inThe Day Before,” says the narrator. Meanwhile, theCyberpunktrailer concludes with “Welcome to the next generation of open-world adventure.Immerse yourself inCyberpunk 2077.” Once again, both scenes are also quite visually similar, taking place over dramatic shots of the cities' skylines.

The Day Before’s History of Copying Trailers

While some of the similarities could be a coincidence, this is not the first time that Fntastic allegedly copied other game trailers. In February,The Day Beforereleased a trailer that seemed torecreate shots from aCall of Duty: Black Opstrailer. Prior to that, some noticed that the thumbnail of a 2021 gameplay video closely resembled a 2015 screenshot ofTom Clancy’s The Division.IGN also pointed outthe similarities betweenThe Day Before’s logo and the ones used byThe Last of Usgames.
