Now equipped with a new bearing and a horse, Joel and Ellie travel to the University of Eastern Colorado in search of the Fireflies inThe Last of Us Part 1.
The university campus is large, but players will only need to explore a small section of it before they reach the science building,where Tommy saidthe Fireflies would be. However, despite the relatively short length of the chapter and linear paths to follow, there are plenty of opportunities for players to find collectibles, especially if one is being thorough.
Here is where players can find the artifacts in the eighth chapter ofThe Last of Us Part 1, the University, to earn theassociated trophy.

Snipers' Nest Log
Inside the loading dock where players can first find the flamethrower and a workbench, there is a door to the far right and a set of stairs leading up to the second floor. Players can then head out to a balcony area to find the remains of a lookout point, and an artifact on the ground in the corner by the chair.
Wall Panel Note
After Callusgets spooked by the Infected inside a building, players can first make their way toward another blocked gate to the right. On the wall between the plaque and panel, players can collect the next artifact.
UEC Campus Map
After spotting a Firefly logo on a wall, players will need to proceed along the path until reaching another closed gate. To the right, there will be a doorway partially blocked by furniture that can be ducked under. This route leads to the dorms, and on a desk immediately in front will be the map.
Student’s Journal
Also found in the dorms, players should go up the stairs to the second floor and head into the room that has been spray painted with graffiti tags. Take a right and go into the next room where there will be a drawer in the desk that can be opened to find this artifact.
Newspaper Clipping
After dealing withthe Infectedand barricading the door, players will need to head up the stairs to reach the second floor again. In the first door to the right, players can find a newspaper clipping on top of the mini-fridge.
Office Recorder
After taking the stairs up to the next floor of the science building, players will need to take a left. There will be two doors on the other side and the recorder will be in the room on the left, on top of the desk opposite to the entrance. Players will be able to listen to the recording after picking it up.

Fungal X-Rays
In the same area, if players head in the opposite direction down the hallway they will pass a section that appears to have been quarantined. Inside, players can find the x-ray to the far left of the room on a counter.
Lab Recorder
In the same area as the previous artifact, instead of taking a left, players should head straight and there will be a white door in the far right corner. After entering the room, players can find a large desk in front of an even larger whiteboard with a recorder in the corner.
Firefly’s Recorder
This final artifact is picked up by Joel from the corpseof a Fireflyduring a cutscene and cannot be missed.
In total, there are 99 artifacts and notes that players can discover in bothThe Last of Us Part IandLeft Behind,its expansion. If players collect them all, they will receive the “Chronicles” trophy.
The Last of Us Part 1is available on PlayStation 5 and a PC version is in development.
