Many fans have thought thatBo-Katan’sMandalorianstory beats Din Djarin’s, leading to speculation that Bo-Katan would take center stage for the show’s potential final season. Speaking toThe Direct, theMandalorianstar addressed the rumors conclusively. “No,” Sackhoff responded firmly when asked if the idea ever came up behind the scenes. “I think there’s always going to be a lot of speculation in this fandom. You know, I think it’s one of the reasons why people love this fandom so much. And they love this universe so much that a lot of times it allows just enough ambiguity for people to interpret things the way that they want to interpret them. And out of that there is the ability to have a lot of misinformation get out, or just, you know, wishful thinking.” Sackhoff also reaffirmed thatThe Mandalorianis still Din Djarin’s show.

-I think in this situation, I think that the story of the Mandalorians and the story of Bo-Katan needed to be told, I don’t believe in any way that it was taking away from Din [Djarin’s] story, nor was that ever the intention. And you know, Pedro and I aren’t in charge of who gets to lead the show. This is Din Djarin’s show, it will always be Din Djarin’s show.

While Sackoff has given the final word, it’s easy to see why some fans may get that idea. In addition to Bo-Katan’s stellar story arc just begging for more screentime and attention, leading man Pascal has also been in high demand of late, allegedly beingclose to starring in theFantastic Fourrebootpending some resolved details concerning his availability. This potential scheduling conflict and the character’s seemingly resolved story arc mean that some fans won’t be as enthusiastic aboutThe Mandalorianremaining Din Djarin’s show as Sackoff is.

Whoever happens to be in the lead, some fans believe the show should end with season 4, as it is clear now thatStar Warscould be falling into the Marvel trapwith its current content strategy. While shows likeThe MandalorianandAhsokaare well-regarded, the withering away of interest is more evident now than ever since 2019. The franchise is long overdue for a break from TV and a return to the big screen, and no amount of well-written series brimming with fan service and easter eggs will fill that void in the interim. With multiple films supposedly in development, including one from Dave Filoni, fans can expect those in charge to pull the trigger on this new approach.

The Mandalorianseasons 1-3 are currently available for streaming on Disney Plus.
