The twisted experiments ofThe Outlast Trialsforce test subjects to use what little resources they have in order to complete their objectives without dying in the process. Such challenges become even harder as players progress through the Trials, which means they’ll need every advantage they can get if they want to survive.

There are a few randomly spawning secret rooms throughoutThe Outlast Trialsthat hide some much-needed (albeit temporary) upgrades for players to use. These rooms are not that hard to spot, but accessing them is an entirely different story. Here’s how to get inside them.

How to Enter the Secret Rooms in The Outlast Trials

As players go through the game’s various levels, they may encounter a metal door with the word “Confidential” plastered on them. These secret rooms (otherwise known as Gift or Confidential Rooms) contain a trove of supplies as well as the upgrades mentioned above.

To open them, players need tofindblue buttons. These are typically found in the general vicinity of a secret room, and they must all be held down in order to unlock the metal door. Usually, these blue buttons are on the walls ataround head level, so they shouldn’t be too hard unless players are crawling in pitch-black darkness. There are no other requirements here, so players are free to usewhichever loadout they want.

Secret Rooms typically contain enough consumables for everyone in the party. This includes differentboostersthat affect a player’s health, stamina, or night vision goggle battery bar. The rooms may also include some evidence, batteries, healing items, and aMaster Key, which is basically an infinite-use lockpick that players can keep in their inventory.

Secret Rooms in the Orphanage

The spawn locations for secret rooms are completely randomized for every run. If they don’t spawn, they will be replaced by normal doors that lead to ordinary rooms, as pictured above.

Players may have trouble when actively seeking these rooms outacross the existing maps, and it’s completely possible that there are some undiscovered secret room locations as of the early access version ofThe Outlast Trials. Here are some possible spawn locations in the Orphanage that players might want to check out:

It’s currently unknown how many secret rooms can spawn per run, so there’s going to be some degree of luck involved here. The one near the Broadcast Room will usually be the one players find first since it’s in the opening area of the level. If it’s not there, then it’s likely that the secret room is somewhere else.
