The Witchershowrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrichrecently spoke about deleted scenes she wishes could have been left in the show. This included a scene that showed the first meeting of fan-favorite characters Yennefer and Triss Merigold, as well as a moment shared between the women of Aretuza. According to Hissrich, these deleted scenes would have helped the viewer when watchingThe Witcherseason 2.
Hissrich spoke about a deleted scene fromEpisode 3: Betrayer Moon, that dealt with the transformation the sorceresses undergo at graduation. She described the scene in an interview with Pure Fandom: “We had a lovely scene in Episode 103 where Yennefer, Fringilla, and Sabrina all discussed how they felt about their transformations, and looking back, I wish we could have kept it. It was such a gorgeous example of female friendship, and it also would have served to ground Fringilla a bit more before she joined Nilfgaard.”

This scene would have put the viewer with Fringilla before she was aNilfgaardianmage and helped them understand her motivations and her personality. Based on the version of the episode that aired, it is unclear where this scene would have gone, but it would have been an exciting addition to the episode.
The second scene Hissrich described wasYennefermeeting a young Triss. She said, “We also filmed a scene of Yen meeting a very young Triss, who’d just arrived at Aretuza; it served to show how far Yennefer had come in her years at Aretuza, and created a sense of mentorship between these two sorceresses. Looking ahead at some stories unfolding in season 2, I wish we still had those scenes! But I’m proud of what we accomplished in the time we had.” It is clear from these quotes that Hissrich wants the viewers to see the relationships between the characters and how they grow through the series.
According to Hissrich, the show would have benefited from the addition of these scenes and given the viewers some backstory when they watchThe Witcherseason 2. It will be interesting to see how the relationships between the characters play out without the viewers seeing any of their initial bonding moments.
